Correct. He was going over what would happen if he didn't capitulate.

My wife has officially quit the show (she says) because she doesn't like how she feels after she watches pretty much every episode.

I think a lot of people who are not into violent, scary stuff may be hesitant to continue watching after that but IMO, I am surprised they made it this far anyway. This isn't the first rodeo with stuff like this.

So much better than Fear the Walking Dead. The Negan/Lucille treatment could happen to any member of that shows cast and I'd be like "meh"

Negan has entered in to Joffrey, Ramsay level of TV evilness...makes the Governor look like a softie. I am not sure I ever wanted a TV character to die so much,

The way Jeffrey Dean Morgan delivered his lines was awesome, he is a great actor.

Maybe the TV version of the Governor. In the comics, the Governor chops off Rick's hand during their first encounter.

They definitely teased it like that. That teaser was even called "Right Hand Man."
I was genuinely worried about it, glad it didnt happen. Our group is already beat down enough, losing ricks hand or carls arm could have been a huge deal at this point.

Although it is TV so even if Rick loses his right hand, im sure he will be a master marksman with his left hand too =P

It has consistently been said that Rick will not lose the hand as he does in the comic because the special effects needed to have a missing hand from this point forward would be too expensive. Teasing it was effective, but ultimately another "screw you" to the audience by the writers.

I guess, maybe you just take things too personally. I haven't seen anything on the show as a "screw you" to the audience. I do not spend a lot of time paying attention to the back end either so I have never read comments about how they are not going to do that, nor would I want to read comments like that as it lessens the experience. I avoid any comic book information too until said part of the comic has passed by in the show.

Are you kidding? The season finale last year was a HUGE "screw you" to the audience. Comic book fan or not.

I guess, its a cliffhanger. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't see it as a screw you and I doubt that is the writers purpose either.

Yeah, cliffhangers are annoying, but what are you going to do? You either tune in next season or you don't. I didn't want to wait, either, but I didn't take it personally. I'm still a bit mystified by some of the criticism of the show – it's season 7 and people have been complaining about the same things for years. Now some are referring to vague halcyon periods in previous season when there was actual character development etc. as if they weren't complaining about the same things back then.

Most of the criticisms are fair, but I guess I just figure it's a zombie soap opera. There's lots to pick on, but I'm invested. And it can't help but be unrealistic. Even last night...
when Negan leaves the hatchet stuck in the table, Rick goes for it, and Negan whirls around with the machine gun. In "real life" – I don't know that Negan gets around in time, especially while locking and loading. I certainly don't know that Rick stops, gun or no gun. Seems just as likely neither would come back and they'd find Rick riddled with bullets and Negan with an axe in his face.

I don't agree. It was a cliffhanger. Some fans like em and some don't. Didn't bother me one bit.

In terms of this pilot. HOLY @#$@#$@#$@. I didn't exactly see it coming like this but in retrospect it makes sense. It was so brutal though which is why it left me in a dead silence after. I have come to be desensitized to people dying by zombies or other bad guys but this? DAMN! Just hard to watch.

I mean I love JDM and hate him at the same time. LOL.

Really? You're not ticked off about what happened with Glenn? That whole thing that happened with him and the dumpster was so bad, and then the producers actually promised they would reveal who died in the finale, which they did not.

I don't mind cliffhangers, but there's a difference between a cliffhanger and being a jerk to the audience.

I thought the writing to setup this moment was sloppy. I called that out earlier in this thread that it was misdirection to get the fans used to Glenn surviving to setup this moment. Did that annoy me?

Sure, but that is not the same thing as being annoyed with a cliffhanger. Honestly, I love cliffhangers that torture me until it comes back. I am sadistic that way. It leaves me wanting the show to return even more verses a nice neat bow at the end of a season.

Honestly, I think fans were simply overeating because we now live in a social media society with no patience.

Hey TWD producers, please keep jerking us around because your show is very entertaining!

Sincerely,

17 million viewers

...

By that measure, this must be the greatest show ever, right?

Is that Chap making the same kinds of arguments against the show as I did in the past? The apocalypse is nigh :)

the episode was brutal,...when glen spoke to Maggie my ol'lady LOST it...stormed out of the room swearing to never watch it again,...then Monday she was talking about dropping amc completely from our channel lineup, lmao...broads...
but by Monday night she wanted to finish watching the episode so she got the whole story... afterwards she says,..." Can we watch something, like,..the Losers or something? I need something to restore my faith in Jeffrey Dean Morgan"....lol
and she is back on the bandwagon!! the episode went along pretty much how I predicted,...well,..at least I had the two kills right.... I pointed out to the ol'lady,...we have seen Rick lose it like this before...he will come back. I imagine in some way they are going to turn ezekial on negan...but it will not end well for zeke..... I am actually hoping to get to see Maggie beat Negan to death with Lucille...after Rick and Daryl cut a few pieces off of him with that hatchet.

Haven't you guys learned anything? This is Glenn we're talking about. He survived eight walkers falling on him in the woods. He survived getting his intestines eaten under a dumpster. What's a head-bashing to him? He'll be back in the next episode.

lol
