So, a few things I am pondering:

Who is still in alexandria with Judith? Carols "boyfriend"? I dont rememeber who stayed back but it seems our group was meeting the saviors or at the kingdom, not still at alexandria. I guess Jesus and Father Gabriel are the two off the top of my head.

Carol seems to be coming around to the kingdom but she is good at manipulating things. She ran off on her family, why stop and stay here? Maybe her and morgan go get the group. They've SOMEHOW got to get word to them--but all bets are off when Carol/Morgan find out what happened to Glenn, Abe and Daryl.

Morgan hates the saviors, he doesn't even know how bad they are yet. when teaching the kid martial arts, he is no longer promoting the no murder narrative. It looks like he will finally turn the corner which is much needed at this point. He turned that corner at the end of last season.

The kingdom people seem hokey and weak, hopefully they prove that to be completely wrong as there is going to have to be a solid base of good guys if Negan is ever going to be taken down. Shades of early Alexandria and we all know how that ended, although I think Ezekiel is a stronger leader.

I am guessing the next episode will be negans camp, maybe some backstory on it and what is happening with Daryl before we go back to ricks group. Trailer for next week shows a lot of Dwight--I'm wondering if he is a possible candidate to turn against Negan.

I forgot about the priest, he has the baby. that solves that. Jesus is in the hilltops i think, we haven't seen him since the group killed negans men at the compound i dont believe. I can see ricks group going to hilltop for Maggies medical needs and then moving down to Alexandria and the kingdom with Jesus. Jesus is a "thief" type, he should know about the kingdom.

I knew Morgan turned that corner, at least to shoot one guy but he is now saying and showing that he will be fully turned back moving forward.

I dont think Carol and Morgan can really find out what happened until they find rick, unless saviors chat about it to king Ezekiel somehow.

I agree Ezekiel is a stronger leader, I am more curious of his men. If they have any gall to them or not. Some of those kills were sick that his men did at the beginning though like chopping the face off of the zombie, that was cool.

i heard the trailer shows a lot of Daryl too. I guess maybe we will find out next week what happened to Dwights face? he wasn't burnt on the face the first time we met him.

I like where all of this is going.

I get confused about the locations. I don't remember if Alexandria was still habitable? Didn't everybody leave when the zombie hoard pretty much took the place over? That's why I thought maybe the priest/Judith/Jesus were all together at Hilltop, but I definitely could be wrong.

I think Morgan is the guy that is going to eventually find Rick and learn about the deaths--I'm not sure Carol's story path at this point will take her away AGAIN. I guess it would make sense, but I'd like to see her get at least a little comfortable where she's at.

We haven't had a lot of time with his men, but they strike me as equivalent to the main group--Rick and co. did some crazy kills themselves.

I don't read the comic,
but I talked to some people that do and the face burning is a favorite punishment of Negan.

So funny with the spoiler tags.

I thought Dwight got the burn from the explosion Daryl used to during their first encounter when Dwight and the girl stole his bike. I could be wrong.

I think actually in the comics Dwight does get burned by Negan. But you could be right too because I'm not exactly an expert on the comics.

I dont read the comic either, at least not in the future of the show, I mostly try to avoid it as much as possible. I assumed the face burning was Negan, a way to get dwight in line.

As far as the other two:
They left Alexandria with a sick Maggie in the RV to go to the hilltop, the preacher stayed behind with Judith along with some Alexandrian. It is still habitable from what I remember. Rick and the group were trying to go see the hilltop doctor for Maggie when they ran into negan.

They did some crazy kills, maybe it is just the horses and the motorcycle gear, they seem to not be quite the same. More badass than alexandrians but not like ricks group. We shall see.

I dont remember an explosion, I just remember them taking off with the bike. It looks more like someone took a hot iron to his face or something

It was a quiet episode, but it did a lot.

-Established the Kingdom. Caught us up with Carol and Morgan.
-Established the Kingdom's relationship with the Saviors.
-Revealed that the relationship is close to violence (the pigs they give the Saviors are fed with walkers; the pig farmer gets in a fight with the savior and is only stopped by Ezekiel).
-Showed that Carol might come back.
-Showed that Morgan might go on the offensive.
-Showed that Ezekiel probably has some tricks up his sleeve.

Obviously we're dying to see the main group, and waiting for them to start scheming. But there's not enough time in a 46-minute episode for that.

I was okay with finding the kingdom and look forward to learning about negan, his location, his story, etc. Maybe in ep4 or ep5 go back to the group and I assume them continuing to get Maggie to the hilltop after this ugly detour they had.

So, do y'all think
the pigs fed with walkers will infect/kill/turn anyone that eats them? That might be a really good way to thin that herd.

I am wondering

I mean, if everyone is infected, will it matter? I guess it could be like a bite in the effect that you are getting a concentration of the disease that causes the flu and death. I assume that will happen otherwise, why even have that scene but we shall see. Hopefully Daryl doesnt eat the pigs.

No. I think it was simply a means to make the pigs "fatter" so that they will be more appetizing. I don't think it matters one bit that it happened to be a walker they fed on.

but why would the kingdom care about savior pigs being appetizing? They could just give them the pigs. They feed them the walkers for a purpose. It is either the equivalent of spitting in their food and laughing about it or an attempt to slowly kill the saviors with tainted meat.

Although I imagine all meat would be tainted by zombies at this point, especially meat from the city where they are running wild feasting on zombies.

Either way, Negan has obviously done to them what he did to the hilltop and to ricks group so the pigs fattening up on zombies is a revenge plot of some effect.

That was precicely what Negan was trying to accomplish. He took way the physically strongest(Abraham), the tactically strongest(Darryl), and one of the most cunning(Glenn). Throw in the fact that Maggie is less than 100% and he knows he has the drop on Rick. This is why I hope this arc follows the comic 100%. It's such a compelling and exciting story arc as is.
That said, anyone watch Talking Dead? Lauren Cohan, wowsers.

Yes. For sure.

BTW

That scene made me flashback to "Snatch".

It's Wednesday. 3 days after the episode. Can we stop with the spoilers? There has to be an expiration.

Because if they were skinny, don't you think something that trivial and minor could set off the thugs? I think so. Better to give them pigs with a lot of "meat" on them. Heck, the guy who counted them actually liked the look of them.

I think the pigs being fed the way they were is a big middle finger to the other group.

That could be part of it too.

What I think it ISN'T, is a way to try to turn Negan's men. That's idiotic considering what we know about the TWD universe.

This is true. After all, it was only Rick whom Jenner told at the CDC. Though surely survivors have noticed that dead people turn even when not bitten. Gareth told his crew it was okay to eat "tainted" Bob because they cooked it, and I guess he was right?

But also, the pigs have to eat something. If Negan's group is already taking a portion of your food as tribute, why use more of what you have left to feed the pigs when they like walkers just fine? The risk, though, is that Negan's group finds out – so another reason for Ezekiel to keep it secret from the wider population.
