When I was a kid we used to sneak in the exit doors when people were leaving. Or we would have someone tell the person working the front that they forgot their coat, then he would go let us in the exit. He would walk back out with a coat we handed to him and we would wait for him to walk around back. (small town theater)

As for the question, I've never done it. But only because I get uncomfortable sitting there for 2 hours, I wouldn't want to sit there for any longer than that. If the theaters really cared, they could go to assigned seating or something.

I did it all the time in my late teens/early 20s. Probably not the 'right' thing to do, but I can think of a lot worse things that I could have been doing. I consider it a victimless crime so my conscious is clear.

Never did this in a theater, but at the drive in we would drive 2 cars and park them in seperate features. They always played 2 movies, the feature first, then some random movie and the feature again. So we'd hang out at one car and watch the first run of one of the features, afterwards pile in the car and head out to the game room for 90 min., then head back, park on a side street, and walk back in the exit to the other car for the 2nd running of a different feature. Good times, but I was a teen.

I did that when I was a kid. I also used to go around to the doors in the back of the theater and get in for free. The doors don't have handles on the outside but if you kick them they bounce open.

I haven't done either in 10 years though.
