I heard that it is the first thing shown in the movie "The Blind Side" also.

The only one I saw that was worse was a Cincinnati defensive lineman some years ago. I don't remember his name but when his leg broke you could see it flopping around as he went down. Made me sick to the stomach.

I was at that game and at that point in his career Theisman was a polarizing figure in DC. This was at RFK stadium not their current state-of-the-art stadium and before the high quality jumbotrons and when he went down people actually cheered. When you got home and saw the injury on tv you saw how devastating it was but you had no idea at the game. Kind of like Henderson a couple weeks ago. They never showed the replay in the stadium.

When you watch the injury from Minnesota game it is pretty gruesome the way the leg flops.

I also have to turn my head when I know they are going to show the Thiesman hit.

If you watch the NFL Films highlights of that game (Inside the NFL on Showtime I believe), they show Hightower's long run, and at the end when he's tackled, you can see Henderson adjusting a limp broken leg. Looks nasty.

Does anyone remember when Napoleon McCallum (sp?), of the Raiders, blew out his knee? It was about 10 years ago, I think, and we were watching that game...He was running with the ball and a Ken Norton Jr took him down. That was really gruesome...I think he tore every ligament and some arteries, if I recall correctly.

Ej Henderson, Marcel Shipp, Moises Alou, Willis McGahee, those are the worst I've ever seen. I've never seen the Theismann injury, never want to, and I'm not clicking that link either. It's just the sad side of sports, and you hope that we find ways to make the game safer without giving up the intensity of the competition. It's a difficult balance.

I saw both this one was worse. It ruptured a major artery in his leg. If not for some quick thinking and a new procedure he would have died or at least lost his leg. Both of these injuries were replayed over and over for about 30 minutes straight from every angle. I think the league has adopted a new policy on this kind of thing. I noticed that they replayed the injury to the Viking player a couple of weeks ago once and then stopped.
