as a good or useful loss. I've been reading some pundits who think the Rams loss will focus the Cards. This isn't baseball with its 162 game schedule. When you only play 16 games, every game is crucial. The Cards gave one away and they'll be luckily if it doesn't cost them.

This week the Cards face the Lions. That team is in free fall and while some of them may be angry at getting robbed by the zebras others will rightly think their season is over. The Cards need to get up early and keep the pressure on. At some point some of the Lions may feel doomed. This was a marginal game at one point, but now it's a "should win."

The Rams identified some Cardinal weaknesses, most based on a lack of discipline and execution. Those must be cleaned up. No more giveaways! No more drops! This will be a tough week for Seattle. With a little luck the Cards could get their 2 game lead back.

If this team wants to be a real contender it must play like a dominant team. They must be more physical; finesse won't be enough. This week they must get real pressure on the QB. Stafford gets nervous if physically threatened. This is a great test for the defense. The Lions can be held down and should be. The Cards should have one of the best offenses in the NF L and it's time to play that way.

+1

It was a game that we had a chance to win even with everything going against us. Hopefully it doesn't cost us.

Good points made in your post. Cards control their own destiny. They have to stay focused and not let the mental mistakes control the game.

It's always better to learn from a near loss than an actual loss, but it is at least a little encouraging that despite how little the team did right and how perfect of a game that the Rams played in that game they still had a good chance to win in the end. Certainly would have been a million times better to have pulled out that win, but sometimes you can't.

No team (except the 72 Dolphins) is immune to those fabulous press-clippings , history has proven that .

The Cards should be one of the best offenses, and it's time they played that way? I thought we were one of the top scoring teams in the NFL?

Way too early to lament on one loss. Seattle also lost to St Louis this season and is still confident it'll win the division. Meanwhile, we lose and you all act as if it's time to start looking ahead to the 2016 draft.

Let's put things in their proper perspective: season is far from over.

Honestly, I would really be surprised if this Cardinals team ended up with more than 3-4 losses. This loss will motivate this offense and learn what not to do in upcoming games. I have a feeling that the Lions are going to get throttled on Sunday. When the Cards get the lead, I don't see Arians letting off at all

I agree with everything you said after "There's no such thing as a good or useful loss." This game was not one of them but IMO you can have them. The Giants getting beat by the Patriots is the best one that comes to mind. Without that game I doubt they win the Super-Bowl that year.

In this Rams game they didn't learn anything they didn't already know. You have to show up in the NFL. But IMO they're games you can lose in a manner that will help your team. I think getting killed by the Patriots in 08 was helpful in getting that run started. If you learn something about your team you needed to learn. Or find belief in what you're doing you didn't have in a close had fought game agents a good team. The loss to focus a team is another IMO. But I think this game at this time with nothing wrapped up wasn't one of those games.

Give 'em hell Harry !!

You are spot on with your assessment here and we definitely need to keep our foot on the throttle and power through this skid, so we can come out of this turn with a bigger lead than we have now.

if seattle wins and we lose, the division becomes near even. We NEED to smash everyone in our path and get our commanding lead back.

Good post Harry.

There may be no such thing as a useful loss, but last Sunday was a loss, so they might as well try to make it a useful motivator. It should be a visceral reminder that you can't rely on the refs not to make a mistake that hurts you in a close game - and you can't just hang around letting touchdowns become field goals and expect to win.

The Lions are good: it's not like the Cards couldn't have beaten the Rams and then lost to Detroit. I'd rather have the division win given the choice, but hopefully the Cards beat the Lions now and pay the Rams back in St. Louis in December.

We have a very good team. We weren't going 16-0. Give me time of possession and over 400 yards in offense and the Cards will bring him the bacon with as huge W.

Have to agree with the OP.

Last year we win one more game and we might even be the #1 seed, #2 at worse. With a bye and a home playoff game.

The year before we win one more game, finish 11-5 and are likely in the playoffs as well.

Lets hope this loss doesnt haunt us like the past two years.

Last year we finished with a rash of injuries after a 9-1 start. Even if only Carson stayed healthy out of everyone who was placed on IR, this team is 13-3 with HFA.

What'll dictate whether or not the St. Louis game impacts anything is how the team responds to getting punched in the mouth. If we're 10-2 or even 9-3 after this upcoming 6/8 games on the road, we should be fine.

We are two very bad very obvious blown calls from being 3 games up on Seattle instead of 1. THAT is the biggest heartache as I could see that coming back to kill us later rather then killing them after only 4 games. Lets just hope the bengals take care of business.

For the Cardinals the key to not worry about this loss is just to keep winning. These next 4 games are very winnable and yes stubbing our toe here I believe does save us stubbing our toe in one of these next 4 games. A division loss at home though is NEVER a good thing.

Time to respond. Step on their throats.

The two things that bothered me from the Rams loss were the turnovers and 5 field goals a reversal of our usual TD to FG ratio.

I think BA will be busy figuring out why we couldn't make TDs. The Rams have a stout front four but not a top defense ranking #16.

We should be able to put up points against Detroit and win comfortably against a #25 ranked defense and a #30 offense.

We can extend our lead in the division as the Seahawks face the Bengals who are unbeaten and may still be without Lynch. The Rams face Green Bay and the Niners go against the Giants.

We escaped the Rams game without any key injuries

I think the Bengals have a really good chance of beating the Seahawks this Sunday. Dalton has been playing lights out this year and he has a lot of weapons to throw to like Carson. Seattle's D will have their hands full.

I was generally saying that against Detroit if we play our game we can win with over 400 yards and no turnovers this week.

While I agree that no loss is a good loss (especially one in the division), I would rather it came now than going in to the playoffs undefeated and lose there. If a team is going to have to regain it's focus, now is the time to do it.
