a) Leinart is assuming the leadership role on offense....it has to be the QB and he is doing all the right things.

b) Dockett is maturing big time and might become the defensive leader over Berry. Wilson and he will set the tone on this side of the ball from a leadership perspective. He could have literally the breakout year that some expected last year. Pat Kirwan is right....it takes a DT three years to hit his stride.

c) If it is indeed true that Watson has lost upwards of thirty pounds, then Clancy could become second string. I'll be watching this development closely.....this is a potential player that could net us a first day pick next year in a trade scenario.......say with the NY Giants for their third rounder?

d) If Al Johnson wins the #1 Center battle, then he's worth what we are paying him.....if not and Leckey gets the nod, he's a very expensive luxury at $7MM. I like Johnson's chances. He was a great off season signing.

e) Eric Green is hungry.

f) Very quickly (and under the radar screen), we've accumulated defensive personnel to play the complete gambit of formations. Along with Dansby, I'll bet we resign Pace to an extention during the season.

g) Levi Brown has accepted the re-assignment to RT just as I was hoping. I love the right side of the O-Line, what with Latui and Brown. Will dominate for ten years.

h) That Whiz wants to have a run first battle plan is fine with me. There is lots of room for Fitz, Boldin etc. to "make their numbers".

i) Our defensive secondary will be, in the words of Roger Maltbie (think Tiger's putt in the 2002 Player's Campionship on #17)..."better than most".

j) Well have a very good ST.

k) Whiz is doing everything right and he and Graves are going to get it done.

l) Our Strength and Conditioning Coach (Lott) is making it fun for the players.

m) I shot 79 on the golf course last Saturday.....I've only broken 80 once before. Sabbatini.....watch out!

Just wondering where you got those 2 items from. I really havent heard a peep about either one of them to make an impression either way. Just curious if there are any links that I have missed.

I don't know about Eric Green, but Rod Hood is hungry. And as much as I despised this signing, this may be a good thing.

I hardly ever break 90 either. And I only play 9 holes. :(
My golf game is about 2 or three over par...

on EACH hole!

The use of Wells at guard makes much more sense if the Cardinals are going to be running more traps, counters, sweeps, etc. (Steelers type running plays.) Not sure that Duece Latui will be that successful at pulling, however; his strength seems to be more of a power game.

Is it Monday Night against the Niners yet?

I can't wait to see what happens. All this talk about power running, Wiz will probably call a Leinart bomb like his very first drive in the NFL.

All excellent observations. Not too farfetched at all. I think the area we need to continue to address is the LB position. No not with an Arrington type. That is dead money that will not contribute. Gotta' find a late camp cut, a guy playing out his contract type FROM winning programs. That is so important in picking up either college guys or pro's. From time to time a Cutler will pop up, but in general, stick with big time programs and guys coming out of winning programs as well. Who are the most desired assistants...guys from winning situations.

Blackstock is one player that get's a lot of heat on this board. I'm of the mind that he'll find his niche this year. Why ?

a) He came out too early (I've mentioned this on other posts). This coaching staff will put him into his proper position....as an outside pass rusher. If we need a pass coverage formation, someone else will be inserted.....maybe even a Brandon Johnson....he'll start to show stuff this year as well.

b) I like players who develop an "attitude". Watch for this in Blackstock "going forward".

c) He has talent....has been undercoached.

d) And his feet are on the ground.

If Eric Green can keep his cool on the field, he is going to have a break out season imo. He had to many penalities because he kept jawing at the player.

I believe he had 3 before he got pulled. Not all in one game. Green is a hot head. Like I said before he needs to get his emotions under controll.

You bring up a good point..

I think the three things that killed the Cards last year were

1. ST

2. Penalties (=O line)

3. Coaches

I think we have fixed all of those but like you I'll believe it when I see it!

I am breaking out the Red Kool-aid!!!!! I am ready for the first game! Is it too early to tailgate??

Maybe for you. Isn't it about 35 degrees with the wind chill where you're at right now?
