LV, you've got my vote for best mock yet. We WILL take two cbs in the first four rounds if Starks isn't fully recovered.

Card Freak I got to admit .....very impressive I like it alot. If somehow we get Tim Couch out of it for Dennis Green"s QB friendly system. We could be on to something

I know a lot of people are high on Batman and I think he will be solid as well. But he is in a position where, after the inital run on CB's (late 1st, early 2nd) he will be somewhat forgotten while teams attend to run on other players.

It wouldnt suprise me if he were there in rnd 3.

First off, not a bad mock. Udeze is my guy even at #3...much to the consternation of many. I would prefer Dunta Robinson early round 2 but I would not be disappointed with Woods. Vasher doesn't do much for me but he does fill a need...although the more I read about Carroll, the more impressed I am getting.

Question though:

Who in the hell is Cleveland trading up to snag in this theory?

I like Kenechi, but not as a tackle. People complain about Wendell being undersized, but Kenechi would be much more undersized.

He is an end, and an end only.

You won't get Batman in round 3, he is much too fast to go that late. Vasher also doesn't do much for me either.

Rashaun Woods would be a steal at spot in the second, but I doubt he will be available either.

I agree, and I wonder if Kenechi is the real deal to begin with.

If we really wanted a DT, V. Wilfork and R. Starks will be in the mid 12-15 if we want a DT.

Roth.

I cant see how they would swing it to be honest with the money they have tied up in Holcomb and Couch, but they arent sold on thos 2 apparently/

I think Carroll wont go as early as some might think. (For reasons stated in post above)

I dont like drafting Udeze at #3 when he can be hand at 8-9-10 or even later.

I think Woods will be avaialble in the 2nd. How deep into the second depends on the run. With the WR class being so deep, and the top teams not really 'needing' a WR, I can see guys like Williams, and Clayton falling to middle 1st round. (or later)

I agree on Udezi as well. If the cards, in this sceanrio, were to move down to that spot, I think he would be the best on the board. Maybe Taylor drops, but I doubt he gets passed the skins.

I definitely agree. With Udeze's size and decent speed, he could be an impact LE. Michael Strahan shows that a great LE is just as valuable as a great RE, maybe moreso.

With Pace, Johnson, and Udeze, our corps of ends would look pretty good on paper. Wakefield could play more 3rd down tackle...

I've been promoting a trade down scenario with Cleveland for the last week.....but the most we'll get is their second (#38). Nothing in 2005. Their willingness to trade up is because they covet Roesthlisberger. They may also insist that Couch is part of any deal so they can dump his contract.

If Henson enters the draft as expected then all bets are off as to them moving up to try and get Ben. As a matter of fact, if Henson enters the draft and with Rivers' performance in the Senior Bowl, it may be that no one will trade up because:

#1) I believe everyone knows that Marty and Dennis Green will probably pass on a QB, making one of them available as low as #8. Henson would then be available at #11 for Pittsburgh.

The problem, of course, is that we still wouldn't have anything like a RE.

I don't know why, but it seems like LEs always have better career numbers. White, Bruce, Strahan all play LE. On the other hand, the "impact" DEs like Taylor, Rice, Freeney, all play on the right side. Does anyone have a theory on this?

Simple. most QB's are right handed so most teams put their best pass blocker at LT. So RDE's spend their whole career facing good pass blockers, while LDE's get to go against lesser tackles. add in the fact that most teams line their TE up on that side and you get the case the Ravens exploited so well with Suggs where teams often use their TE as an outside pass blocker.

I was watching some show on Fox Sports the other day and they were showing highlights of Quan and Suggs as the OROY and DROY. They showed clips of 5 sacks by Suggs, 3 of them he beat the TE for the sack. THat's the advantage of putting a great pass rusher on that side if you scheme it correctly you can get real mismatches like that which are MUCH harder to get on the other side

What made Suggs so impressive is he caused fumbles on every one of those sacks, and none of them were coming from the QB's blindside, which is the whole argument for putting a great pass rusher on the right side in the first place. I said this a few months ago the NFL is really starting to shift in that regard teams are putting pass rusher on the left. I am wondering when the offenses start to adjust and change their schemes on blocking?
