Lol its like this is the first time people have watched the NFL. It literally happens to EVERY team, EVERY year with at least 1 players sometimes 7-8. Jesus just look at the Pats last year.

No excuses. I learned my lesson last year. I love DD but there are 6 guys I would have been alot more freaked out about losing. Next man up.

Geez try and act like a winner Cardinal nation. Dockett going down doesnt end the season.

Pretty much.

Losing Dockett sucks for many reasons; however, it is an injury that the Cards can overcome.

Guys who I would've reacted much more negatively to if they went down for the season:

  • Peterson
  • Calais
  • Palmer
  • Fitz
  • Veldheer
  • Honey Badger

Don't give up so early in the fight. You never know. 1 or 2 of the replacements might be ace, man! If Keizel can be another Abraham type pick-up and a single linebacker steps up his game then The Cards can still be a brutal defense!

He declined our invitation and has agreed to re-sign with the Steelers. It's too bad, he would have provided some stability and depth.

I don't think the season is toast, that's ridiculous. But when they interviewed Campbell today it made me think. He said Dock and LOS were the biggest leaders of the D. He said it would be difficult to pick up the slack now that it falls on him because he isn't as vocal calling out stuff during games. He also mentioned depth and the fact that Dock was in for every snap and demanded double teams because of his quickness off the line. I don't think people realize how often Dock was double teamed due to his burst off the line. Campbell said they'd have to replace him with 2 or 3 dude's in rotation who wouldn't demand those doubles and that they were already reworking their scheme because of it.

I don't know if it will be apparent immediately but I suspect it will be VERY apparent by the middle to deep part of the season. It's going to hurt more than people think. Campbell didn't even mention DWash at all, not once, he mentioned LOS and Dock.

So our line took a step back (temporarily hopefully), but the secondary is taking a step forward. PP, cromarite, honey badger, etc are some of the best in the game. And now we are seeing the stand out of Buchannon coming on strong. Fact is, cards are (were) the number 1 run defense in the nfl. Can we sustain that position without DD, Washington, dansby, minter (if not 100%)?? I guess we will see come September. If we can find ways to shut down RB's and put opponents offense in passing downs, we will have a chance. Love our secondary and love our offense. IMO, I think we are not toast quite yet. Hopefully we can avoid any more serious injuries throughout the year. Someone posted earlier about the patriots and their injuries (and Hernandez) and still found a way to win. Granted they have Brady, but there is always chances for guys to step up and find ways to win. Still excited about this years team and I still believe we have a shot at this division or wild card spot.

I think we're good. Given that our #1 Cooper is playing like crap/hurt, DWash busted, Dansby gone, Minter injured, Dockett done for the year, and the fact that we just tried to sign the dude who killed our SB by running back an INT 101 yards with no time left on the clock, we're the Cinderella story of the century.

That's the list of negatives, granted, but some other stuff has happened since that you've failed to mention.

Dansby, DWaste, Dockett, Ellington.:bang:

Not to go full in darkside here... but, if you're tossing Ellington onto this list, I think we might be able to add Mathieu and Minter as well. I am not at all sold on the Badger's return anytime soon. And Minter is playing with a pec issue, which is trouble no matter how you slice it...

I'm starting to lean toward the Toast line of thinking. Too much adversity in one offseason and not enough depth at key positions.

Also, last year's draft class is really starting to worry me. Most of them are hurt, and the healthy ones just aren't very good. We need much more production out of these guys at some point.

1. Cooper-Turf Toe
2. Minter-Pec
3. HB-Knee
4. Watford-Healthy
4. Okafor-Out again with a thigh issue
5. Taylor-Healthy
6. Swopes-Retired
6. Ellington-Foot Issue
7. Jefferson-No longer with team

We somehow go 2-1 before the bye week and then we get those injured guys back just in time to go on a historic run!

It can be done really. I just don't want the 1 lost to be against SD. :bang:

I'd rather lose to an AFC opponent than an NFC (especially an NFCW) opponent. Even if it is important to get off on the right foot, a loss to the Chargers will factor less into any tie-breaking scenarios.

True, but I think the first game loss will kill any momentum they may have had for future games. I think with a win against SD will steam roll them to win others and have better confidence in themselves.

I can see that too.
