The Western Conference is so competitive, but I expect them to make the playoffs this year. For the Coyotes to get in, someone has to fall out. I think Nashville will be that team. Last year, the Coyotes hit a wall with about a dozen games left, likely because the young nucleus of players had not been through the rigors of a full NHL season. Several rookies could make the team this season, however, so it wouldn't be a surprise if this happens again, but the team is certainly headed in the right direction. Chicago is banging on the playoff door with Campbell and Huet joining the mix. Columbus, who has never made the playoffs, thinks their team is ready to jump to the next step. Edmonton has a permanent spot on the #8 seed bubble. Los Angeles is about a year behind Phoenix. This season will be a dogfight all the way through April.
