Awesome! According to my DirecTV guide, NFL-HD is replaying the Cardinals - Carolina game next Sunday the 26th at 1pm. That was the one playoff game I didn't DVR, so I wasn't able to include it on the blu-ray discs I burned a while back. Now I'll finally be able to complete the collection.

Just watched the Carolina game and boy did we ever spank them or what? Won't be long now fellows when we have to wipe the slate clean and start all over again.
I don't think there will be a lack of Cardinal coverage this preseason!

Big BQ!
Coaching was the reason we were able to go from the New England outhouse to the Playoff penthouse in 2 short weeks, don't you all think? If I'm Correct, and its jmo, it gives me alot of confidence this year!!

Sweet, sweet, sweet. But the tears are always on the cusp. Knowing what should have been is impossible to deal with.

There's nothing like watching a past game (without worrying about its outcome) to put things in perspective. A few (previously forgotten) observations:

- We were losing at half-time.

- Dockett's breaking through a triple-team early in the 2H and punching out the ball so Rolle could grab it & score was a game changer if not the game changer.

- Where Dansby stood out most was that he consistently converted every tackling opportunity into...uhhh...a tackle. (Which meant that, if there was any possibility Turner might break one and Dansby was nearby, it wasn't going to happen. Huge).

- Rod Hood was suprisingly solid - both in coverage and stoning ballcarriers in their tracks. While I'm hoping and expecting McFadden to be better than Hood in coverage, I am a bit twitchy about how much of an improvement over Hood McFadden will actually turn out to be.

- While DRC's athletic talent was obvious (witness that one leaping deep interception) he was still playing too far "off at times and whiffed on a couple of tackles. The good news is that both problems are fixable and represent a humongous upside yet to be realized.

- There were a couple of coverage breakdowns late in the game - notably (a) not covering the short screen that turned into a long run to the Cardinal 25 and (b) our DB's playing so far back into the end zone that they were vulnerable against the short TD pass.

- Edgerrin James, at the very least, provided us some semblance of a run game (& the threat to run). Had he not performed as well as he did, we'd have had a very short post season. Until Beanie proves he's up to the job, I'm going to feel somewhat insecure not having Edge as a security blanket to fall back on.

- Spach. Big guy. Blocker. Although not considered a primo receiving threat, proved he could deliver in the clutch to seal the win. That's all I really expect from a TE. He and Becht - if they can stay healthy - should provide this capability next season; with Patrick and (if he finally "gets it") Pope duking it out for a remaining receiving TE role.

- When you set aside our 6 or 7 most elite players, the rest of the guys on the roster were good enough and solid enough to keep us in games so that a few big plays could determine the outcome. But the scary thing is how close the game really was - that a change in a handful of plays could have easily changed the way things turned out.

Atlanta game

Jeff did a nice job of summing it up.

What I noticed was the passing game wasn't very potent once Q was sidelined with the hammy, until that last drive of the 4th quarter. Play calling on that last drive was excellent, the Cardinals surprised Atlanta by going to the air. The clinching pass to Spach was beautiful. Two Falcon linebackers descended on J.J. Arrington, and Kurt hit Spach on the hands for the critical first down.

The defense, and especially Dockett, Hood, Hayes, and Dansby, played very well.

That one is listed under "ESPN Classics." I'm sure Philly fans don't consider it a classic :p

I would be curious to see the thread about that game. If I recall, since they spanked us on TurkeyDay the fans were pretty confident they were going to crush us.
Anyone have a link to that thread? I am admittedtly too lazy to look for it myself :)

I just remember going over to the Panther boards and after the game one of their fans posted a pic of their defensive Co-ord with this dumbfounded look on his face with the caption "Which one is Fitzgerald???"

Classic..lmao

Awesome, I've got nothing to do and the NFC Championship game is on in two minutes. I was at the game and still haven't seen a replay yet, it will be much easier to watch knowing that we win.

So true. Just watching the ESPYs and seeing the highlights for the nominations of "best game" made me relive all those intense emotions I felt during the Super Bowl in a 30 second span, lol.

The NFC championship game is playing again in 15 minutes. :)
