Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m ready to move off of Kyler and have been for a bit. He’s just an inconsistent/mediocre QB. If we can move off of him during the off-season, I’m all for it.

I’m just saying 82 has been watching too much Friday Night Lights. Kyler isn’t a bad QB because of “leadership qualities” or whatever, Kyler is a bad QB because he can’t produce on the field. That’s on him.

He’s a bad QB because he panics. He’s a bad leader because he’s a bad leader. It’s a bad combo.

I’ve played sport football, basketball, and baseball a majority of my life. I stuck with football in high school.

I have seen first hand what a good QB can do for a team. During my SR year of high school, we underwent a QB change because the first QB couldn’t get it done. And to be frank, the first QB was more extrovert while the second QB was more of an introvert. However, the second QB was actually good at his job and we all were able to follow because we knew what to expect and we believed in him.

That goes for any professional setting. You must be good at your own job before others can follow you. You must produce at a high level. That comes first before anything. Not the FNL fluff you’re talking about.

EDIT: You lost so much credibility when you included Jameis in that list.

Just being good at what you do doesn’t make you a leader. There’s also a LOT more to leadership than just being an extrovert. The two best leaders I e ever worked for were introverts. But they weren’t great leaders because they were just good at their jobs. They were great leaders because they understood how to identify talent, get the best out of people, inspire people, and get people to trust them.

Just out of curiosity, not trolling, have there been any accounts of Murray being a good leader? I've heard great talent, great athlete, etc. but don't remember much on being an inspiring leader. He seems to care much more this year and putting in more work but he's probably going to be known more for having a study clause placed in his contract and more interested in video games.
First impressions are hard to change and probably not many leaders have had to have clauses put in their contract to try and make their job a higher priority.

82 did you miss some of the offseason stories like how he took all of the receivers, te's, & rb's to work out together & footed the bill for all? He also has weekly dinners with his oline. There are quite a few stories like that, that showed how he has matured as a qb & leader of the team. It also seems to me his team has his back. JMHO.

Yes. Part of the reason Kyler's leadership abilities were under scrutiny more in years past was because he was playing very well but we came unglued at the end of the year. People started wondering aloud why he can't lift people up/bring his teammates along.

Now, we don't talk about leadership much because Kyler is playing like stinky butt. It's much easier to endure a stinky QB when he's stoic or confused on the sideline than when he's pouty and showing up teammates.

MAYBE that is still part of his problem because to me he still looks like he’s playing scared when there’s any pressure. And I’m guessing some players never get back their nerve to play because of injury. Maybe he’s one of those.

I was a fan of us drafting him number 1 overall, but I was not a fan of the contract extension, and my thoughts are proving correct. While he is capable of making great plays, he also makes terrible blunders. " Glitch" has been said a few times, particularly when he is pressured, gets tunnel vision, or makes poor decisions. I think the FO realizes he's not the future, and we will likely be done with him after next year. They need to bring in a veteran quarterback and draft a quarterback in the 2025 draft at some point, then look toward the future.
