Because we are locked into Greinke and Tomas's bloated contracts, we are going to likely lose Pollock and Corbin to FA. Our farm system, while improved, is still not top tier and our best player has regressed to pretty much nothing. Is Hazen going to throw Baltimore good prospects for a Machado rental or just stand pat? This team is an absolute mess and they are unwatchable currently.

At this moment, there is no reason to trade for Machado unless they intend on signing him long term...which won't happen due to the contracts mentioned. Pollock's injury history is a turn off to some around here and it may come to losing him to a big market team who overpaid.

Corbin is the difficult one for me because I am of the mindset that I want them to stockpile pitching...especially in an age of increased strikeouts.

Yup. I was ready to do a straight salary dump on Greinke before the start of the season. Apparently there was "some" interest from other teams. I would have traded him for scraps if it meant ditching that albatross of a contract.

I think Corbin is going to have to have a solid 2nd half again for them to consider retaining him. He's dropped off already after a very good April. He needs to show he's the (losing) streak stopper when they really have to have the W.

Pollock, he's a luxury that I doubt they keep. Unless he really helps them bring him back reasonably. A long shot, mtl.

Meanwhile, it's time to replace Hitting Coach Dave Magadan and Assistant Hitting Coach Tim Laker. And the guy who works from home sending them information (the same as Dan Haren does for the Pitching Coach, but that seems to be helping).

Obviously the hitting coaches are not helping the hitters.

Greinke hasn't lived up to that contract, he hasn't been terrible, but he hasn't been nearly as good as he was in LA and I would have been ok with us dumping him and having a team take some of that salary, but it seems we are stuck with him now. We have no financial wiggle room to upgrade this pathetic roster full of dudes batting .210

i give enough credit to Hazel to allow him to rebuild this team from the ground up, that should start this offseason. we need to better the farm, and we can't afford to keep our top FAs anyways

When we become sellers we may be able to jettison Greinke and his contract to a contender with deep pockets

The return won't be too great given the contract the other team will have to accept. Greinke is really not the problem.
