Lars the Red
aka Thor, God of Thunder
Very different from any of the teams in recent memory. They have a heart. They have shown me a completely different attitude on the defensive side of the ball.
-The DLine at least have the appearence of trying to attack. They tackle aggressively, in a punishing manner.
-The secondary plays much more physical. There run support has greatly improved.
-The linebacking corp could be special. A couple of players need to get on the field to help solidify it, but they have some real ability.
Offensively, they look like their still learning, but that's to be expected.
-Josh is doing what he can, but it appears he's now starting to get that dreaded 'pounded QB syndrome'.
-Emmett is a leader, but just doesn't have the ability anymore to run behind a weak line. It's really time to step up and try to get a guy like Duckett, who's sitting on Atlanta's sideline, or give the ball to Hambrick and see what he has to offer.
-The receiving corp needs Quan back. He can make all of them better receivers by allowing them to get comfortable in the system. Freddie may not be the best blocker in the NFL, but he can catch the ball and needs to be used like that. In his defense, he blocked the best pass rushers the Falcons have to offer by himself on too many occasions. On King's sack, he kept him out long enough for King to take a 3 step drop, see the 1st option, moved to the second, then finally lost him on the move to the 3rd receiver. A QB with the experience of King should have known better than to try to hold a ball on a three step till he progress to the 3rd.
I like the play calling. I like the effort. I like the heart. This isn't the same team I've had to watch the last several years. Some of you say there are no moral victories. Your wrong. A team as deep in the weeds as the Cards have been the last several years has to measure the improvement they show on the field. Be satisfied with losing? Absolutely not. But you have to recognize the improvement, and see that as the positive it is.
