Is he the son of Joe Klecko, the guy who played for the Jets?

"Klecko, who ended his career in 1988 in Indianapolis, worked and played hard. He also was a loyal friend, which he blamed for a stint in prison. Klecko was sent away for three months in 1993 for lying to a grand jury about a pal's involvement in an insurance-fraud scheme.

These days, he and his wife are concentrating on raising their three young children, having already raised three others, including a son (Dan) who is a senior defensive lineman at Temple. "

It is Kleckos' son. http://www.nfl.com/insider/story/5823858

Here is a good article on the Kleckos'

Klecko is probably the best pass rushing DT in the draft. His technique is far and away above any of the other DTs.

Klecko's problem is his size. He's 5'11" and 267 lbs. At that size, he's suitable for a 3-down pass rushing role in the NFL.

Add 20 lbs. to him, and he could be a force.

Temple's site lists him at 6'1" and 280 lbs - probably not 100% accurate. I am sure he'll be at the combines so they'll get him down to the "t" there.

If he is on the board in the mid rounds (4th?!?) I hope we consider him. I love his attitude, work ethic, etc.

A guy with his measureables, won't be drafted.

But he could be brought in as a UDFA.

Those numbers that I quoted were from the weigh-in at the East-West Shrine Game.

He's probably gonna be drafted in the later rounds. Recall, he beat all those Miami stud DTs for Big East Defensive Player of the Year. His motor alone will get him drafted.

Not really though. I would be willing to best $ 100 that he won't be drafted. The NFL is big on players fitting a certain size-speed-strength, and he doesn't seem to anyone of those.

At best he is a sixth round pick. Being conference defensive player of the year doesn't mean squat in the NFL ask Pat Tillman.

Later round prospect (5-7). Size hurts him, but his heart and NFL bloodline w/ probably lead towards a team taking a chance.

Far too small to be a prototypical DT, but I wouldn't count him out. (His Daddy was too small too).

Thing of it is - good teams become great teams when they add 2 or 3 "too small", "too slow", overachievers to an already talented roster.

Unfortunately, on the Cardinal roster, these types of guys have been the rule rather than the exception and have put a lid on how far the team can go.

If we were strong at DT and wanted to add Klecko to the mix as a role player, it might make sense. But we're not. Wrong guy at the wrong time.

The Eagles will most likely take him.

They seem to select many players from schools close to them--Villanova, Rutgers, Temple.

Hmmm.

2 quarters of play, 6 tackles, half dozen pressures, 2.5 sacks.

Pretty good premiere for a 'too-small' DT (who's playing three positions, BTW)

It seems that too many times, everyone gets too caught up in the size-speed parameters for each position. If a guy can play, isn't that what really counts?

You'd think so , wouldn't you. Another reason to watch the tapes and forget the damn workout numbers.
