Someone please list the improvements this team has made??? The O-line still sucks even with the coaching change. In fact Im to the point where I almost feel the O-line is worse. They cant pick up any kind of blitz to save their freaking lives! Wasnt Emmitt supposed to be able to solve this problem

We committ the dumbest penalties at the worst possible times.

Our D-line while is a little better at applying some pressure(just a little) is now arguably the worst run D in the entire NFL. The run D is absolutely horrible! Dockett and Kolodjiez constantly get manhandled on running downs!

Our WRs including Fitz cannot get any kind of separation from the DBs. Thats just depressing to considering the new enforcement of illegal contact and defensive holding.

Our CBs cant cover anyone even when there is more pressure. WRs are constantly open for big gains. Especially when its 3rd and 10 and is usually in the Ds favor. Well not in our case. We still give 10 yard cushions to a team that isnt known for big play WRs. That was the excuse against the Rams. Whats the excuse for it this week??????

Ahhh Im so glad people love moral victories and say things like "we gave the SB champs a few scary moments" Big whoopty freaking doo!

This team is in serious need of a talent infusion. If people cant see that they need to open their eyes a little more when they watch the games!

With all that being said I will be in front of the TV every Sunday rooting my ass off for them to prove me wrong!

Our offensive and defensive systems are both way better. It won't take that long for the talent to catch up.
This year's all about improvement, and I like what I see so far.

I'd say that right now you are correct the question I'd ask though is in two more Mac years would we be any better than the last Mac year?

Green has done more destroying than building right now and it shows but I think the upside for the team is much better than under Mac.

When was Mac ever going to learn to coach? I'd say DG knows already but is getting killed by system changes and mediocre players.

A ton of players are new and a ton are still here, when DG has had the time Mac got and still throws out teams like Mac did then I'm on your side until then I'll take Green.

Let me think about this one for awhile. I'll get back to you.

This post is insane - let's see - Improvements - turnover ratio +3 as opposed to what last year at this point - -7? Um, giving up 40 points as opposed to 80? Giving ourselves a chance to win going into the fourth quarter - one on the road and one against a team that has won the past 2 of three Super Bowls without our BEST PLAYER on offense, our second best player on offense and one of our best players on Defense - all coming on the heels of being arguably one of the worst football teams of all time last year?

What the hell were you guys expecting this year - especially in light of the above (no Boldin, Shipp - worst team in the league last year) - the second coming of Jesus? Good lord.

are you referring to that system of leaving CBs 10 yards off WRs not known for speed and big plays? Or the system that gets our D-line blown 3 yards off the ball everytime the ball is snapped on a running play?

I agree on the O!

Shane - it was great meeting you at the game but I have a question for you - what were your honest expectations coming into the season esepcially when Boldin went out?

I see a diffrence Macs team would have lost 45-3 to the Rams then 39-0 to the Pats. This team atleast tries, don't knock them 2 weeks into the season after an injury riddled offseason and going against the Pats and Rams. B*LL Sh%T, the OLine sucks ass but I see a team playing with more heart then usual. Injuries hurt this team

Shane,

I know you want to win, so do I. And I get very tired of people countign moral victories. They just arent warrented in the NFL, but despite what Green says to the press this is not a 10 win playoff team. And it is a rebuilding year and it is still a bad team.

The defense is much better than last years. They are more intense, dont give up, hit hard, and for the most part tackle well. Starks and Macklin are playing pretty well considering no pass rush and the team doesnt have an ounce of quit in them

The offense on the other hand is bad. Real freaking bad. I mean awful. And it starts and ends with the offensive line. I will agree that as of right now, with all the tweaking having been done, this offensive line is WORSE than last years. Something has to be done to correct this and fast!

Our QB is well, McCown. average, blah, . He is nothign special and probably will never be. H ehas regressed since last year for certain and our only hope of winning was to have him play mistake free football. He showed he is very susceptible to throwing into coverage. He must get better and FAST!

All in all this team is headed in the right path but unfortunatly they have taken afew steps to the left and right and a few steps back as well. They will get there I do believe that but right now I can share your frustration!

what were you expecting this year? I think most people wanted to see competitiveness and I doubt you can say haven't.

I recall saying that after the first preseason games I had to temper my own expectations and realize that one off season will not make a huge difference.

I still think though this team is mentally better than last year in the fact that they have not quit when they were down.

I agree totally with Cheese. My thoughts exactly. I would be willing to bet that if Mac were in the same situations..even keeping his guys, we would be getting crushed right now if he were our coach.

a team that was better in all facets of the game. especially the o-line! a team that didnt get manhandled as they have been regardless of score. a team that was better coached and doesnt make the stupid penalty. coaches that will jam a WR at the line for once and not continually give the Marmie cushion!

it was nice to meet you and your bro too. that was way cool!

I didn't see the Pats game but from what I have read the past couple days and having watched the Rams game, both those games, the Cards were not really in the game. The scores were much closer than the actual game was. Now, maybe that is enough but I maybe question just how competitive the Cards REALLY were.

regardless of stats Shane - you know what I saw - A Cardinal team that had the LEAD going into the fourth and was one play away from having an 8 point lead midway into the fourth. Again - what kind of expectations do you have for this team that was the WORST TEAM IN ARIZONA CARDINAL HISTROY LAST YEAR?

Personally - I thinkwe got our asses hand to us Sunday, but it was to be expected. I mean do you think we handed Seattle their asses last year when we completely controlled the clock and outgained them in yardage yet lost 38-0? We play a bend but don't break defense and our offense in making killer mistakes as so far those squads which are "just as bad as Mac's" have only given up THREE touchdowns - yes - that's right 3 TOUCHDOWNS - think about that for a second and compare to it to last year when at this point in the season we had given up ELEVEN - ELEVEN TOUCHDOWNS TO THREE - we are basically an exapnsion team - you need to lower your expectations and be patient here man. Hell, people wanted to run Mike Holmgren out of Seattle even though he went to the playoffs in his first year, then completely broke the team down and built it the way he wanted to - I bet those people feel kinda foolish now - the same will hapen here if we just give it time.

Again - improvement - 11 TDs vs. 3 TDs- that's a quantum leap no matter what the stats say.

Improvements.
1. Our secondary. Both our CB's remain healthy and, while not necessarily Pro Bowlers, are solid. Wilson is playing his ass off and Harris or Ohalete are making plays.

2. Special Teams. Rackers is having an insane year. Player is punting well. Our coverage teams are doing a good job. Return teams could do better.

3. Wide Receiver - While not to our expectations, this unit is better than it was last year and should get better when Q returns.

4. Linebacker - Not stellar yet but better than last year.

Biggest disappointments - (1) O-Line and (2) D-Line: If you can't run the ball, protect the passer or stop the run, it's going to make the rest of your team look dismal as well.

Anyone find it ironic that everyone would rip Mac's CB cushion yet people seem prefectly willing to accept the same cushion from Clancy? Also, People would hammer Mac's bend but don't break style yet Clancy's bend but don't break is getting raves?

i cant believe the # of people that because of score alone feel we were competative?

is that really the only way many of you judge games and how a team is doing?

And Im still waiting for the excuses for the CBs 10 yard cushions again in this game??? Anyone???

Uhm, they are trying?

They are getting timely turnovers?

They are actually "in" games in the 4th quarter and not packed up and packed in by then?

The level of effort on the field is incredibly different. The results are currently the same, and the talent level is the same or worse, but the atmosphere is markedly different. I agree they need more talent in key areas (CB is still a sad, sad position, but they are playing above themselves). The O-line will get better, I think, but I hope Josh doesn't get killed before that happens.

However, what they are doing with the talent they have makes this a MUCH better team than the ones Mac coached.

that's BS on the Rams game - we were forcing turnovers and flying around the field plain and simple. The Pats game wasn't as close as the score would indicate, but they were still playing hard and bottom line - it was a one possession game midway through the fourth when McCown really looked bad - the play that killed me was that drag he threw to Fitz who defintely would have had a first on 3rd and long if the ball wasn't thrown at his knees.

Last year we gave up over three touchdowns per game. Dead last in defense.
Last year we only got 23 turnovers on defense. We're on pace for 48 this year.

It's an aggresive defense. It's going to give up yards. But I'll take turnovers and an actual game in the fourth quarter over the frustration of the last regime's defense.

11-3 is a valid stat but is that just the law of averages catching up a bit with a generally unaggressive defensive style or is it really a sustainable statistic? Jury is still out there IMO. Cards have benefitted from Bulgers braincramps and the full body brain cramps of Martz and it still doesn;t seem like the cards were ever in the game with the Patriots .
