This was an ideal game for the Suns. A fun game to watch, great competitiveness and some good things out of the young guys. I loved seeing the oops to Chandler from Booker and Archie. Finally some hints of chemistry out there.

And they lost! Perfect outcome. :) Player development and draft position all in one! Hope to see another one just like this against the Warriors on Wed.

I can't stand Steve Albert. I've tried. I try to look for the good in his commentary, ignore the bad. I just can't do it. He makes me shake my head so often during the broadcast. For instance, Devin Booker's wrap around. left handed pass to Archie on the break in the first quarter. It was a great play by both players. Great slam by Archie, great pass by Booker. I thought it was so obvious that both players should be highlighted, but all Albert mentioned was Archie's slam. It took Drysdale to actually mention what a great pass Booker had made. This is just a microcosm of what I find wrong with him. He misses things that, seem so obvious to me, shouldn't be missed. He says things that make little sense or are not applicable. When Kieff and Ibaka got double technicals, he failed to realize Kieff handing the ball to Ibaka rather than the ref is what set Serge off. He makes me dearly miss Leander. I fear I'm stuck with him though. He may not be as annoying to others as he is to me. I've never despised an announcer before. I despise Steve Albert. Not personally. Sorry Steve, but the job you do is nails on a chalkboard to me.

I can't stand Steve Albert.

You are not alone. He is very bad and at almost every aspect of his job.

He seems fairly knowledgable about the history of the game but has no clue about many of the rules (example: two days ago he thought a player in the game that had stepped out of bounds didn't count, ball would be out based on last person on the court to touch it). He has a good voice but his eyes don't work well enough to provide the information he needs to utilize that voice. And he displays the emotional maturity of a very young man.

His sense of humor would have been considered puerile in high school. Although surprisingly enough, the last time I mentioned this there was at least one fan here who liked his humor. Anyway, whether he's the nice guy he seems to be or not, he needs to go. And soon.

Guilty. I think Steve and EJ have some great comic moments. It's dry and deadpan but if that's your cup of tea...

I actually like most of the recent commentators (Albert, Bender, Leander) but off course I miss shazam, zing goes the strings, what a burger sends 100 $ to charity. Not to mention the classic pre-Barkley white and purple jerseys.

Looking forward to the future with Booker & co.

His sense of humor is tragic. The jokes are so bad sometimes I'm uncomfortable for EJ.

I never understood how he lasted past the first season. I've never met or even heard of anyone who actually likes him and yet he's still here.

What surprises you about that? Isn't it the same people making these decisions that have made the decisions that have gotten our team to where they are at now? Or no?

You make a point.

I wonder what the average fan thinks about him?

The thing that bothers me the most, he gets a lot of the play calling wrong.

I agree with this and the other criticisms of Albert that have been said here.

I will say however that I find myself liking Mrs. Drysdale more and more. She really is super knowledgable about the game and she is surprisingly insightful about things happening out there and she is not afraid to call guys out for lack of effort. She broke down a play the other night and explained why it worked and highlighted what Booker had done well and I was like, man this broad really knows her stuff. :) (new york accent)

Her voice can be a little annoying and she gets a name wrong every now and then but I think she's very good.

Steve Albert was brought here for one reason. He is Marv Albert's brother. But in terms of announcing, he is no Marv Albert.

His constant reference to Claude Rains' "The Invisible Man" movie from 1933 is boring and dated.

It's sad that the Front Office thought the family name would hide Steve's lack of skill and that the fans wouldn't pick up on it. They either didn't do their homework or showed little respect for knowledgeable Suns fans.

Just another embarrassment on Sarver's report card.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Oh no! I just read that "The Invisible Man" is going to be reissued starring Johnny Depp. Steve Albert's reference is going to become relevant. But, don't worry. His game calling won't.

A lot of people hated him but I still think he's a lot better than Albert or Drysdale.
Ann Meyers-Drysdale, one of the greatest women basketball players of all time, doesn't entertain. She provide astute and accurate color commentary.

She has also played a key role behind the scenes in the ongoing success of the Phoenix Mercury.

It is a shame that she has to be associated with the buffoonery of Steve Albert. She is a quality person and a professional.

Her husband, the late Don Drysdale, was an excellent pitcher, then an excellent announcer. They were a special couple.

I like Tom Leander, but unfortunately, something about him makes him sound like a lightweight. He is a good play-by-play man, but not a strong presence behind the microphone.

You didn't mention why you don't like Ann Meyers-Drysdale doing color commentary on some of the road games when Eddie Johnson chooses not to travel. What's your reason for stating that Leander (a play-by-play announcer) is better than Annie (filling in as a color commentator)?

Leander seemed more energetic/enthusiastic to me. Like you said, more entertaining.

Then again Leander hasn't done a Suns game since the dark times arrived so maybe if he was doing games during times like this then there perhaps wouldn't be all that much to be enthusiastic about either.
