you must be talking about the TD run and maybe 2 other runs all day long. How many times did emmitt get stuffed for no gain?? way too many...especially when we needed it the most

Well I remember times when defenders would break into the backfield and Emmitt would be put in a postion where he would have to be super human to get a gain.

I think there was a problem with play calling here too. As it seemed the plays kept getting called that simply weren't working.

Emmitts stats weren't bad at all really.

ATT YDS TD LG
E. Smith 16 63 1 16

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

We are not going anywhere this year. While I agree we lack speed to the outside. Trading for a RB is not the answer. This would be a waste of a pick. Ride out the season, and get a RB in the draft. Cedric Benson and at least 4 four college RB's are better than any of the names mentioned so far. He has size, speed, and pretty good home run ability. Our first three picks in any order should be a RB/DB/ DT. Even though this teams record is 1-4, they are light years ahead of the crap we all witnessed last year. 2005 is the year we make the jump to a possible wild card spot, and in 2006 we get everyones attention.

What did Benson do against a decent team - OU , on Saturday?

Get a young pro - if you can.

WE NEED A RB THAT CAN SEAL A GAME!!

I dont care who the hell we get (or trade to get em )...WE NEED SOME speed in the backfield

This year is already shot so lay the plans for the offseason and next year's draft. One thing about RB's they come ready to play and do not get better with experience.

Scobey is not slow. Croom is not slow. I am totally against trading draft picks on guys who are average Rbs. If we fast forward two years, and we have the talent to be in the playoffs like we all expect. And, we still have issues with speed to the outside, I would be more comfortable in trading. We still have too many holes to throw picks away.

Scobey is injured and Croom ran a 4.62 40 per SI.

If we know for sure we'll get a better RB with our picks, keep the picks. But it's a gamble and it's going to make for a VERY long year this year watching Emmitt and Hambrick get caught from behind by DE's.

not fair though he got victimized by his young QB. I made the reference yesterday, OU repeatedly ran the same look at Young and he never recognized it and kept getting hit on the same frontside blitz, or same run blitz. Just like Josh getting sacked on 2nd and 1 on a frontside blitz he never saw. If Young makes his reads correctly Benson has a better game.

But let's be real, as good as Benson is clearly the best RB in college football proved it Saturday, Adrian Peterson is a freaking man child!!!!!

Adrian Peterson is awesome, and what the hell is with Texas??
How long is Mack Brown going to survive this garbage?

Mack Brown - has this guy ever won a big game in his entire career? Or even come close? It seems like his team can't even score a TD when the showdown game comes to town.

he keeps winning 10 games and that's enough.

the thing is Peterson is right, players don't improve there like they should, I heard the announcers commenting about Vince young always throwing sidearm off his backfoot and saying something like "I guess they're not going to change that?" I think that was a thinly veiled what in the hell is Mack Brown and his offensive coaches doing this kid has a ton of talent but he needs to be coached and apparently that's not happening.

Peterson is scary good, I kept reading he was a tough runner but that was my first real proof that he was, the speed is scary but he broke so many tackles on Saturday too. We'd have 2 more wins this year easily if he was our RB and he's a true freshman in college!!

That was the worst! It sealed the game! He hit him as he threw the ball!

on the replay in slomo, the ball left the QB's hand and Dockett's helmet cocked forward. A clear cheap shot in the lower back that should have put Rattay and Dockett out of the game. Would have been called even it happened before the pass was thrown.
