Time for the DH in the NL?

Now that the interleauge will happen every day in MLB now, is it time to make the DH the standard?

Since PED's have been unvieled in MLB, scoring has been dropping and pitching is starting to steadily dominate... As much as I would love to see the DH go away, MLB will do whatever it can to create more offense. AND, the most powerful union on the planet - MLBPA - will NEVER, EVER allow for the DH to disappear... sadly.

Not possible now that there are 15 teams in each league without expansion or contraction.

I know I will be in the minority, but I say add the DH to the NL and adopt a schedule similar to the NBA so you play every team at least once.

The DH rule, good or bad, is here to stay in the American League - there's no chance of them getting rid of it now. They need to stop pretending they play the same game and actually start playing the same game. I say YES to the DH rule in the NL.

I completely agree about the beauty of the sacrifice by Kennedy (except it was Kubel who moved to 2nd). And then to have Pennington come through after his start, that was cool too.

I chose "Don't care" because it was the only alternative to "Yes" or "No".

As a National League fan since I was 11 years old, I hate the DH rule. But I realize that inequity is not the way to go.

So my choices are:

1) Drop it in the AL which, as has been posted, is not going to happen.
2 Adopt it in the NL, but make each NL hitter promise that he won't go up to see how high he can hit every ball in the air (yeah, right).
3) Leave it as it is.

At least one inter league game every day has pretty much set the decision as number 2). As well as some NL teams agreeing to use the DL during the first part of spring training.

Baseball purists, we are doomed!

Yeah watching a pitcher hit a homerun is one of the cooler things to see in baseball. I just like the idea that if a good pitcher can hit well than they give there team a pretty good advantage.

I'm about as against NL DH as much as I'm against replay, extra wild card team, show boating homeruns, and Milton Bradley. keep the game as it is!

No thank you. The DH is horrid. Its like saying Arizona should switch to daylight savings time because every other dumb state has it. If something is dumb, don't follow the crowd who's doing it ,and the DH is certainly dumb.

I believe it was Bob Brenly who I first heard float the idea that during inter-league, the DH should be used at NL stadiums and not used in AL stadiums. Give one leagues fans a look at the other product. This would allow AL fans to see real baseball and I suppose we could suffer through the DH for a few games a year. Though I would worry this could be a gateway to the NL adopting it full time.

It was a thing of beauty and I enjoyed it immensely. But, I would have also enjoyed watching Gibson go down to the end of the bench to wake up Rusty Staub so he could hit a 2 run game ending home run.

I never really saw the need for the DH but I have no problems with it. I do have a problem with the inequity between the leagues and adding it to the NL seems to be the only way to truly level this ground. I know the traditionalists would like to keep it as it is but there was a time when strikes were not called, pitchers threw underhanded, batters could call for high or low pitches and so on. For me, there is nothing sacred in having pitchers hit but I do prefer it.
