Last season they beat our ass. I agree he didn't dive for that ball, he should have. And yet his half hearted attempts and lack of urgency beat our ass.

I'd have been pissed at Palmer for not throwing it away. If you stand there and hold the ball that long - you deserve to get taken down.

Throwing the ball away is becoming a lost art frankly. Some QBs don't even know how to do it properly. It's like directional punting in a way. Agree with you.

Oh, please. In the first quarter he held the ball entirely too long, got tackled by two defenders, and nearly got whiplash looking to the ref for a call. He is a prima donna who gets pouty when things do not go his way.

He's an egotistical jerk but he's a damned good football player. And that was a very cheap hit.

Denver won this game the same way they were last year. Poor QB play and great defense along with some luck.

I wasn't impressed with Carolina's Gordon-less secondary either. Denver's receivers were getting anywhere they wanted for the most part but Kubiak's game plan was the safe pass.

Let's not get it twisted. Simean (sp) is probably the worst starting QB in the NFL and could barely manage the game tonight. Denver is probably a 7-8 win team at the moment. The Panthers losing the way it did with Cam playing as mediocre as he did should be cause for concern for Carolina fans.

Name your bet and I'll take it.... They may not be the 85 Bears or the Ravens... But that Defense can drag even the most pedestrian QB to the playoffs, and the limited footage I've seen of Siemian, tells me he is better than Stanton... He looked off his first read vs the Panthers... more times in one game, than Drew has in a career.

I love Jameis, but that roster still has a lot of holes. Even in that weak division, I still think they'll go 8-8 at best.

I was impressed with how tough Newton was kept coming back. On the roughing play the part that surprised me is they actually called the grounding. he and Wilson get away with that so much that while I didn't like the blow to the head I was quite refreshed to see them call grounding on him. Remember in the playoff loss when the refs said the ball was "in the area" of the LOS or some such nonsense as an excuse for not calling grounding?

That said yes absolutely the NFL is full of crap on the concussion protocol. How in the world can they say there was no indication of a concussion what did they do to determine that standing on the sideline or up in the booth? I guess I missed the announcement this offseason that the NFL has fitted QB's with a new invention that allows them to monitor brain function and determine if someone has a concussion or not. If they want to protect Qb's do it, don't let players and coaches risk their health to stay in and try to win the game.

Don't pretend about safety if you're not going all in on it.

I don't know if there is a perception that because he is such a physical freak, he can take shots like that and doesn't need protecting or what, but that went too far.

They need to penalize the cheap shots but it's a difficult thing to enforce because when they allow Newton and Wilson to just flip the ball away to avoid a sack and not call a penalty for grounding, it leads to frustrated defenders which IMO actually causes more late hits. That is if they called grounding more often, these guys would probably take less cheap shots.

Very good points. I know I get frustrated as heck watching what Cam and Russell get away with as far as no intentional grounding - I am sure the players do as well.

Another point that was brought up on the radio is that Cam at times is a running back, lowers his head, initiates the contact himself helmet-to-helmet, then gets up tapping his helmet asking why he didn't get the call. Just because you are the QB, when you are running, doesn't mean you get the QB protection. I believe many refs are sick of him trying to show them up and let questionable hits slide because of that.

Last night, there was one called, and another that should have been called. The others, Newton lowered his shoulder and initiated the contact.
