Watch the deceptive shift!

Watch for the extremely abrupt shift by their tight ends designed to draw an offsides especially in 3rd and short situations. The tight end or H-back rises up abruptly as if prematurely going into pass-protect mode, then shifts in the formation. It is nothing more than an attempt to draw the opponent offsides. Against Washington, the officials charged the Whiners with illegal motion. Against the Giants, they charged NY with an offside penalty. Some officiating crews are smarter than others in detecting the deception. It IS a borderline call, and hopefully Whisenhunt warns the officials so they DO call the penalty on San Francisco WHEN (not IF) it happens.

we seemingly always make Alex Smith look like the second coming of Steve Young... still, can't wait to see how we come out this week with Skelton behind center and the young guys getting more burn on D.

I skipped the whole Rams game and the first three quarters of the Eagles game.

Am I allowed to watch the 9er game from the start?

EDIT: watched recording of both games later. :)

I think Beanie's problem is that he does not trust his legs enough to make hard cuts during his run. He clearly isnt afraid of getting hit because he is still running with power, but we havnt seen him slice towards open areas since he messed up his leg a few weeks ago.

He was noticably a little gimpy against the Eagles.

But as you said he is not shying away from contact. There were at least 5 runs where you could here him truck an Eagles player.

CRACK!

The 9ers have yet to let up a rushing TD this season... that's just insane.

Their defense is fantastic and extremely talented. They've allowed, by a HUGE margin, the fewest points in the entire NFL. Tied for 8th in INT's. Tied for 2nd in Forced Fumbles. Top 10 in Sacks. #1 in Rushing defense @ 73 yards per game. They're 26th against the pass however - so, Skelton or Kolb are going to have to come up big!

Offensively, they're #7 in Rushing and 29th in Passing. So, we stop the run and put the ball in Smith's hands, we've got a shot!

Many here refuse to accept just how good the 9ers have become. How tough they've become and that they are more like a tough AFC team than any other NFC team...
I despise the 9ers, but I have enormous respect for the job Harbaugh has done. It's actually quite miraculous to think that experts are even suggesting that you can get to and perhaps win a Super Bowl with Alex Smith as your QB. Stunning turn of events for sure.

In any event, the ONLY way we can win this game is if we play flawless football, execute at a level higher than we executed in Philly, and out-tough the toughest team in the NFC adn arguably, a top 3 toughest team in the NFL...

If we fall back to commiting stupid penalties. If we can't protect our QB. And if we can't stop the run, this game will quickly become a laugher...

I'm not one of those who never respected them, I do respect them, although I am learning to really despise that franchise the team especially on defense is rock solid.

They learned before anyone how to beat us with Warner as QB.

The way to beat them is to frankly show up and punch them right in the mouth.

Then keep punching cause it's going to be a war.

Very tough team and now they're well coached, tall order to beat them.

We can I think because we do have the weapons to do it but it's a very longshot proposition IMO.

We match up better now since we've changed a lot too, still have almost no chance IMO.

As long as Wilson is not assigned to Davis, then we should be good.

IMO Whiz needs pull every trick play out of the book. We are not going to be able to run on the 49ers and Skelton is not going to get away with those lucky throws he made against the Eagles. I have no doubt we will be seeing Patrick Peterson in the wildcat again this week.

Things that make you a good football team:

1. Playing solid defense.
2. Getting turnovers.
3. Mistake-free offense
4. Don't make stupid plays/penalties to beat yourself

You not only failed to support your opening assertion, but you stated examples to the contrary.

I hope you didn't write position papers like this in college...

lol Funny stuff and spot on.

They are good, and maybe overconfident. They've beaten us pretty good over the last two yrs. and we had to pull the other ones out on goal line stands ect.

So anyway the way I'd attack them is like you said head on and use LSH and even some PP21 on offense.
Throw some one step side passes with blockers and try to spring them. Go for some home runs on 2nd , 3rd and short. Try up the seams as well. Keep Fitz moving all day. We might counter some of their aggressivness with a well run screen now and then, or slashes off tackle.

I agree with everything you said here except the bolded part. There's a few that still doubt the 9ers but most of us realize they are for real. That doesn't mean we can't beat them but if we do, it won't be because they're frauds. I'd feel a lot better about this game if Beanie was full strength despite how well SF plays the run. A balanced attack would definitely help our chances. Without it, they probably won't have too much trouble taking away Fitz.

1. Use Fitz in motion a lot so that they have a more difficult time doubling him. Setting him in position will play into their hands. That includes lining him up in the backfield initially out of a 2 TE formation and then motioning him to the strong side of the formation.

2. Run right at Willis. For sure you can't run away from him. We are going to find out how good the interior of our offensive line is.

3. Use a lot of no huddle especially if Housler is back this week. That way you can split him out if needed.

4. You are all going to find out if Sendlien is the good offensive center that many think he is. He has single handedly been the reason the team has looked so bad the last several times we played. He has allowed the tackles to be beaten like drums by the Niners. He may be a good center when the when the qb is behind center, but I think he leaves a lot to be desired when in the shotgun. If the silent count is the reason why he is so bad, then change the means of the silent count. Because it is going to get Skelton maimed.

Let's not forget that SF no longer has Nate Clements to cover Fitz. Could make a big difference.

Now is another time to remember we have Ryan Williams for next year... a combo to reckon with in the future
