“No one’s content being a backup,” Skelton said. “Everyone that’s in this league wants to be a starter.”

My first thought when I read that was, "Except for Matt Leinart".
You trying to make Thesmel go postal?
I'm still not buying that statement. Some people respond differant ways to criticism & need to be taught with differant approaches. I think Leinart needed a coach to believe in him as a player...not saying it's right. I hope he proves us all wrong.

Despite all that, Whisenhunt preferred Anderson, and cut the former first-round pick. Anderson was arguably the worst opening-day starter in football, and the team bounced between him and rookies Max Hall and John Navarre throughout the season. Each rated among the worst quarterbacks in football. The following year, Whisenhunt traded for Kevin Kolb. Kolb was, not coincidentally, one of the worst quarterbacks in football this season before suffering an injury. Whisenhunt is the primary reason Matt Leinart is considered a bust, and over the course of his career as Cardinals coach, Whisenhunt has shown virtually no ability to pick the right starting quarterback for his team.
Good minority report from @billbarnwell for Grantland.com (Barnwell is the best thing about Grantland now that Bill Simmons doesn't care about football and Chuck Klosterman is on book tour):

John Navarre?
FAIL @ credibility.
Upon hearing that Schaub was out for the season, Leinart was heard to say "maybe I should start studying the playbook...".
Last night on MNF pre-game Steve Young was pretty much frothing at the mouth over how wonderful Leinart was. About how hard he's been working in Texas and how well he knows the playbook and how much film he's been studying.
Check. We'll see.

You can do all the studying you want but it's diffeent when they are playing for real. Like you said, we'll see.Last night on MNF pre-game Steve Young was pretty much frothing at the mouth over how wonderful Leinart was. The Matt Leinart will do well enough to win games and continue their push for the playoffs. They have a good team on both sides of the ball and a devastating run game. They also have a more-than-competent offensive line.
That being said, Whis isn't mean to QB's. John Fox is mean to QB's, check out what he said about Tebow:
“We decided if Tim [Tebow] is going to be our guy, we can’t do that other crap,” told Jeff Darlington of NFL.com. “We had to tweak it.”
And by that other crap, he means run anything approaching a conventional NFL offense. You know, one that includes completing a few passes. “Do whatever the hell it takes,” Fox said. “I mean, what the hell? You don’t get points for style in this league. Let me tell you something: My man is really good in this offense. You know what I mean?
“If we were trying to run a regular offense, he’d be screwed.”
LOL.
So what you are saying is he tailored his offense to fit a QB and didnt try to fit his QB in his offense? Now that there is a novel idea.
I hope he falls on his face just for the sake of berating SMEL.
