From what I have seen from Toler throughout his career, he should fit into Horton's system nicely.

I am also a big Toler fan. I believe he was a big reason why the Cards were willing to trade away drc.

Toler is physical and fast. He will fit in great in Horton's d.

completely agreed. I'm just curious what will happen with Fleming. I think it's very possible we end up with 3 great CBs

I think that reason was Patrick Peterson not Greg Toler.

The thought of what Patrick Peterson might become had to play a part, but he's still an unproven rookie at that point. Greg Tolers physical play and ability to play Horton's defense better than DRC had to be a main reason for the trade. They wouldn't have taken the chance on relying on a rookie, especially under Whiz. Am I wrong in saying that Patrick Peterson is the first rookie to start game one under Whiz? I can't think of another one...

Levi Brown started as a rookie and ever since

Toler is a CB, and a good one, He did not hit his potential his first year starting, and he is not a pro bowler. PP and DRC are the exceptions not the rule, most CB 's take time to develop into starters.

I always thought it was the one position that you either draft early or aquire, rarely does agreat CB develop from a late round pick? More QB's like Brady and Romo than CB's like - well who is a pro bowl late round or UFA CB? ????? there has to be one?

 Good find. Interesting that both our 5th picks overall started as rookies and both years we ended up 8-8. That next year we went to the Superbowl...just saying...

Sorry, but you'll never get me to believe that Horton and the Cardinals were going to go with Greg Toler as their #1 CB last season.

not #1 after the draft, but I do think he would have been #2. Easily

He already was the #2. But if PP21 gets taken at # 3 or #4 DRC is still in Arizona and people would be making excuses for Kyle Orton instead of Kevin Kolb.

truth be told, I'd prefer that QB situation. But I prefer our current CB situation

Me too. But we had to get Patrick Peterson for it to work out that way. I don't know if we would be as well off with Jimmy Smith.

I wonder what we'd have done if that draft had gone Newton, Miller, Peterson, Green? What if the next guy on our board after PP21 was Blaine Gabbert!

The Tolar love is insane. Tolar MIGHT be good, but the last time we saw him on the field he was god awful and he has blown out his ACL since then. The only reason to have any optimism for Tolar is the hope that he needed a change in the defensive scheme.

Agreed. In Tolar's case it would be both. The guy spent 2010 getting abused by virtually every receiver he matched up against. Yes, he got a lot of tackles, but it was largely a reflection of how awful he was at preventing a catch.
