A top orthopedic surgeon with knowledge of Tom Brady’s injury and subsequent troubled knee surgery says the NFL superstar will never play again. “(His career) is dead,” the physician told us. “It’s over – plain and simple,”
A second orthopedic surgeon, while not predicting an end to the Patriots QB’s career, was nevertheless grim: “A lot of times … the motion doesn't come back. In Brady's case, with the infection, you wonder if the graft is strong enough and whether his knee will occasionally buckle, collapse or re-tear."
Both physicians asked their names not be used, as neither is authorized to speak on the case. But both are widely regarded orthopedic specialists who have worked on many injuries similar to Brady’s and who have been published in some of the top medical journals in this field.
“The more surgery a person has, the worse he will be,” the first surgeon told our reporter. “The same will be true for Brady. He will never be the same; he will never be able to play again. Sad but true. But in these types of operations, if it isn’t done right the first time, then it’s over.”
According to Boston.com, Patriots owner Robert Kraft did say recently that Brady has "an infectious way of impacting people, so we're happy that he's back and getting himself into good shape."
