I agree. Since the All-Star Break, this team has been so sharp, I would say that the only way to improve is to rest the team for the next week and a half. That way, the team will be really rusty by the time the playoffs start that it will look like they're playing in mud for the first 3 games of the postseason.
There's no correct way to end the season. If you play everyone in the last couple of meaningless game, they don't get any rest and could be tired for the playoffs, but if you rest them too much, the team could get out of synch, get a little rusty, and lose whatever momentum they have. I'm sure people will criticize D'Antoni for whichever way he decides to go, but for the first time in a while, the Suns have actually been playing well lately. Being the second oldest team in the league (somehow...), the guys could probably use a little rest, but too much and the team might lose their momentum. I think the best way to do it is to go with normal lineups to start the first 8 minutes or so of the first and third quarters, as if these games are real and as if it is important that they don't lose the on-court chemistry that they've had recently. Then, you can play all the other craps on this team - hell, D'Antoni can resign Paul Shirley if he'd like - but at least give the good guys some minutes together so they can enter the playoffs firing on all cylinders, not spending the first 2 home games trying to refind the spark that got them here in the first place (and into second place).
