Marion scores 20 instead of 6 like last game and we win.

I think barbosa should play a little less minutes he has been playing a lot and I want him fresh for the start of the season.

Nash with the super game, 13 assists and purfect 100% shooting from across the board all fg, 3fg, and ft.

This team always comes back strong from a bad loss, even during preseason

Barbosa had 8 assists tonight. That's encouraging.

I don't think Barbosa will ever be the point guard of the future so ALL his assists are gravy as far as I see it. When it comes down to it he might very well be a scoring machine soon, albeit one with a funny looking shot:)

They used to say Alex English had a "funny looking shot", and he scored 25,600 points at 50.7% FGs and shot 83.2% FT's for his career. When leo was leading the NBA last year with 48% 3pt shooting (at about the 2/3 of the way through the season), I didnt care how the shot looked. He must have fatigued as he dropped off 4% in the last 20 games or so to finish at 44%. I wouldnt be suprised if Leo leads the NBA in 3 pt shooting this year, especially if Amare draws alot of attention in the lane area.

Anyone else think twice about Salmons? I think he had something like 15 points and 11 rebounds. I'm sure hoping Banks is the backup PG the Suns envision. His shooting is worrying me a tad (but it's early) and I thought he would show more of his ability to drive it to the basket thus far. He's probably just trying to find out how to achieve his role on the team... I hope.

Salmons looked good. The Suns wanted him and it was his decision to spurn them. I am sure that the Suns still wish he would've joined up. But then we would still have no backup PG.

Your certainly right, the Suns needed a backup PG the most. Anyway, it was Salmon's decision to sign with the Suns... I mean the Raptors... no wait the Kings.

I was just hoping Banks would show more early as Nash's backup. Again, he may just be trying to find his niche. In some ways I want to compare Banks with Marbury in terms of their build and game, except Marbury needed to dominate the game with the ball and take his shots to be effective. I think Banks wants to learn to pass the ball. Actually I liked Marbury while he was here... he just was not the type of PG Phoenix needed (or maybe he is not even a PG).

Edit:

Just a thought. Maybe Marbury should go back to Minnesota. It seems that it is a reunion long overdue. Perhaps he is just too expensive for Minnesota.

thanks for bringing up Salmons..I wanted to talk about him but forgot. Yeah, his double double caught my eye and I was thinking if the dude would've been a good pickup for us. But then, look at his line and you will see that he didn't have a single 3 pt attempt. That kind of made me feel better because what good is anyone (to the Suns) if you can't shoot 3s? I recall his poor shooting was brought up by many on this board when it looked like we were gonna sign him.

If Jumaine starts showing some 3 pt accuracy, I'll be happy with what we have now, because from what many here say, Banks could be a good backup PG for us.

Overall our offseason has been a great success! yoo hoo!

I was thinking as far as offseason acquisitions, Jumaine Jones might end up being the best for the Suns... and for a minimum contract.

I've just got this gut feeling he may help the Suns like TT did last season. I will be esctatic if Banks turns into the backup PG the Suns want him to be.

However, all is right with the world today... now that the Suns have extended Barbosa and Diaw.

"He's a good defender, a good player," Artest said of Bell, "but he does that dirty stuff sometimes. When he does stuff like that, I want to fight him. I can't do that, of course, but it makes me want to meet him off the floor for a nice little fight."

Said Miller of Bell, who was assessed a flagrant foul: "That's what he does."

Bell didn't stick around to comment.

Nice. Bell is such a great fit for this team. We needed some toughness!

We did, and some attitude as well. KT's been known to mix it up some but he's not quite so volatile. With Raja that edginess is there and size doesn't matter -- Miller's half a foot taller and 50 pounds heavier.

I don't recall if their little to-do all happened before or after Miller sent Nash to the floor.

Mainstreet, "I was just hoping Banks would show more early as Nash's backup. Again, he may just be trying to find his niche."

The little bits I've seen of Banks he was looking to pass the ball as much as score and he appeared to be quite good with his passes. He looked like he was hurrying his shots a bit but I'm not concerned about that at this point - he shot over 48% from the field last year so he can put the ball in the hole.

My biggest concern is Bank's mental toughness - D'Antoni is antsy whenever Nash isn't on the floor so whoever is backing him up gets yanked around a good bit. Both Barbosa and House deteriorated the longer they played that role for Mike. Neither one was entirely suited to the position of course but then when the Suns brought in Andre Barrett, D'Antoni dumped him pronto. Maybe its because he used to play the position himself but the man is more than a bit goofy when it comes to handling PGs. Other than Nash.

On offense, I think Banks will be a work in progress. The Suns style is radically different from the high structure systems that almost every other team uses.

Where I see Banks making an early difference is on defense. He's a tough, "in your face" typle defender that can create fast break opportunities by forcing bad passes. The guy who is most likely to benefit is Leandro who can play the passing lanes when Banks is harrassing the opponent's point guard.

And we got banks for cheap enough that it is no biggie if he becomes a project for next year (or even this year) kind of like Barbosa last season.

The suns know how to develop young talent, Joe Johnson and Barbosa are the true testaments of that. Thankfully though Barbosa is nothing like Joe, and we won't have to worry about anything from banks like that for 5 years.
