I couldnt care less if Greedo shoots first, last, or jams his gun. Anyone with me?

(don't shoot me BIM) I agree with you swd! I guess I'm too young to have the conviction that some hard core Star Wars peeps have, because I just watch and enjoy.swd1974 said:I couldnt care less if Greddo shoots first, last, or jams his gun. Anyone with me?
Perfectly said!!!!!!! My hubby and I were just talking about this yesterday and how every aspect of Star Wars is George's "baby". He dreamt it all up, he has the right to do what he likes with it, whether we like it or not.SirChaz said:I understand Brian's (and others) objections and while I am a Star Wars fan these movies don't belong to me or any group of fans.
These movies are George's and he can do what he wants to with them. I may not like it but I always have the choice not to buy them.
I think we are still better off with an altered or "flawed" trilogy than no trilogy at all.
I can still watch my original VHS trilogy even though it is not widescreen.
Don't taunt me, Ryan. My mother taunted me once. Once.Ryanwb said:There was this movie that had a ton of simularities with Star Wars too.... it was called "Space Balls" or something like it... Here are a few oddities off the top of my head
- Had a force like power, but it was called "The Schwartz"
- Had a Yoda like figure, but his name was "Yogurt"
- Darth Vader like Character, but his name was "Dark Helmet"
This movie was striking in its simularities to Star Wars, I wonder if Lucas stole some ideas???![]()

TNG is the best and so far I like Enterprise.

I didn't start watching until the Borg came and then I thought it was good. Since the show ended, I've seen S1-3 and it is better then I remember.HeavyB3 said:I hated voyager.
How can you not like 7 of 9?!HeavyB3 said:I hated voyager.
Okay, here are the other striking similarities:Pariah said:I've been reading a book about Jack Kirby, the creator of the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, Captain America and many others (along with Stan Lee...but that's for another post). Anyway, there are some very striking similarities between Kirby's "The Fourth World" and Lucas' Star Wars. Keep in mind, Kirby wrote and illustrated Fourth World comics before Lucas wrote Star Wars.

Jack Kirby
Off the top of my head, here's the similarities I can remember:
~Kirby had a version of The Force called The Source
~Orion, a hero, is the son of Darksied (pronounced "Dark Side"), the ultimate villian, but raised on another planet unaware of who his father is.
~Darkesied lives on Acropolys, which bears an uncanny resembelence to the Deathstar.
...there may have been more, but I can't remember them. If I get a bug up my butt, I might look it up and re-type the page here.
And, while Doom doesn't have anything to do with "The Fourth World," I leave you with this:
"When I first saw Darth Vader, I thought, 'Oh, it's Doctor Doom!'"
--Mark (Luke Skywalker) Hamill
PS--I didn't post this just to hack off the Star Wars geeks, or to deny Lucas his rights as a creator, but rather to shine a light on an equally important pop-culture creator, Jack "The King" Kirby.
Interesting stuff. Sure, Campbell's "Hero with a Thousand Faces" may have given Lucas a very general blueprint, but it seems that a lot of more specific ideas may have actually come from Jack Kirby. The more [jack Kirby] considered Star Wars, friend Mike Thibodeaux explained, the more he noticed the connections. "Oh, constantly," Thibodeaux said. "I don't know if we should get into this. Jack didn't want any money or anything from Lucas, but he wished that Lucas had at least admitted where he got most of those ideas. I remember him saying one time, 'just admit.' He even signed something to say he wouldn't go for financial gain."
