Some Cardinals love out there

  1. Cincinnati - Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Henry - Henry is suspended for half the season, but Johnson and Houshmandzadeh are good enough to carry this offense.
  2. Indianapolis - Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez - Lots of early buzz on Gonzalez, the rookie out of Ohio State, who should excel in the Brandon Stokley role.
  3. Arizona - Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Bryant Johnson - This group should get better as Matt Leinart becomes more comfortable.

I have no problem under the Bengals and Colts. Those are some good WR cores. I think the Colts.....well, actually I think the Cardinals should be #1. But if not the the Colts.

This below is nothing but front running BS mixed with Cowboy bull poopy:
6. New England - Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte' Stallworth, Jabar Gaffney - This unit could move up to top three or fall off the map. It will be interesting to see how Tom Brady spreads the ball around.

7. Dallas - Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton - If T.O. has as many drops as last year, this group falls out of the top 10.

New England is by far the most over hyped team this off season. There secondary is questionable at best and with Samuels out they are even worse. The wide recieving core is ALL HYPE. Moss is past his prime, Stallworth is consistantly inconsistant, Wes Welker has A LOT to prove he can do it for more than one year, and Jabar Gaffney is Jabar Gaffney. Furthermore, they don't mention the best reciever on the team right now which is Reche Caldwell, and that is not saying much for the Pats.

TO, Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton - do I really need to explain how wrong this is?

Agreed. Chad Johnson is their only legit #1, while both us and the Colts have 2.

TJ Whosyourmama is great but is an overachiever. Chris Henry is a monster when he actually plays. The others like Tab Perry are also solid--it is mostly a question of depth for the Bengals, I think.

Is anyone else still scratching their heads a bit when they think about having a consensus top-3 WR corps, but are moving to a smash-mouth, run first offense?

I LOVE the idea of being able to run, but we could probably also be successful passing first and working on an adequate running game.

You play to your strengths, not force your weaknesses into strengths. Time will see if we can do it.

Whiz just mentioned running the ball a lot, yes? So maybe he envisions pounding the rock during the 4th Quarter after the passing game cut the opposing D to ribbons during the first 3? :koolaid:

yes

Please, give me a team of overachievers. I'd kill for some guys who play above their ability level... beats the hell out of unfilled potential.

I just hope it doesn't catch up to him. He is so physical and intense out there it might cut his career short. But you are right--he'd rather burn bright but quickly

Aren't these rankings really more about the QB than the WRs?

In Cincy, Carson Palmer is about as accurate and decisive as a QB can be...I don't care who he throwing to.

In Indy, ditto for Peyton Manning...if you put Manning with Boldin, Fitz and BJ, what WR trio would be #1?

If and when Matt Leinart gets his game going, our trio will be lauded as highly as the other two.

I agree that this has a lot to do with it. It's why I've never liked the argument about Tom Brady not having "name" receivers to help him. He's an elite QB--he should "make" the WR.

Although having a physical WR with good hands always helps.

This coaching staff seems bound and determined to push as many square pegs into round holes as they can this season...at least verbally thus far.

Jeff Blake had a thousand yard reciever with every team he was on.

I completely agree.

I think the organization has done some things on the offensive line to coincide with the head coaches philosophy. As well as getting a new FB in the backfield.

BUT it begs the question why we didn't trade Bryant Johnson for some more draft picks, or maybe a pick and a blocking TE.

Quan and Fitz fit right into the power running game. Both are great blockers, and elite WR's.

So really my only question is why Bryant Johnson is on the team, and an elite TE is not.
