I doubt the Cards bring him in but it's hard to judge Holt with the train wreck that's been the Rams offense the last 2 years.

I agree with this statement. The thing that bothers me is there were times last year like he looked like he gave up. I don't know if it was just frustration over the whole team situation or if he knows he just can't do it the way he used to anymore. I really don't want a player that gives up when things aren't going well.

For players the NFL can be like a grinding wheel. When they are young the more they play the sharper they become. As they age the hard metal becomes fatigued and worn and dull and unable to hold the edge it once had.

Holt may be rapidly reaching that point.

Total fallacy! Outright lie actually!
About who? I'm missing which post this was in. Holt has a bad knee doesn't he?

I'd like to see Holt on a team(even it was the Rams) where ownership wasn't in question, coaches weren't getting fired and the rest of the team wasn't a total mess. 2-14 will sap a lot of enthusiasm. Maybe he tanked it but I'll hold out judgment until his surroundings improve a little. He's always been more light-hearted than intense anyway.

I agree that new surroundings could help but you have to worry about what motivates a player.

Holt has a ring, his career stats, and his money. Some guys are motivated by the big stage, the attention, and some are just hyper competitive. I don't know if Holt fits those latter categories and he already has the former.

Thats what worries me about him. He seems to have achieved the things that motivated him and may just be going through the motions now. I would prefer a young hungry player that has talent and is looking to prove himself and is motivated to do so.

I agree with that concern but would bet that Holt was just pacing himself during a long season. I know he cares about winning and losing from some of the blowups he's had while Linehan was there.

Look at his numbers he has never had a down year until last year. Holt is a heckova player.

We have young up and comers in Breaston & Early. You cant have enough good veteran players.

I still disagree. If Holt isn't our #1 or #2 receiver he will be needed to play on special teams. I don't think he would do that.

Thats why guys like him and Marvin Harrison have trouble landing a home. If you aint the top 1 or 2 dog you must contribute in other ways because your value as a 3rd receiver just isn't enough to justify having you to just be the 3rd guy.

That's why I like young guys. If they come to the Cards they know they aren't beating out Fitz or Q or even Breaston so they know they will have to excel on special teams.

These small NFL rosters make it hard for older accomplished vets to stay in the league just because of the need to do fill out your roster with guys that can be your 3rd receiver and play special teams or be your 3rd down back and play special teams. It forces some of those guys out of the league.

Big BQ!
you guys, we are not going to trade boldin..he'll bitch and moan until next year about this time til the fo offers him an upgrade on his contract since it will have 1 year to go on it. like they're trying to do for aw. we'll[me included] see all these sweet deals go by the wayside and want to trade him, but next year boldin will catch 90-5 passes for 1200 and 10 and help us to the nfcwest title. if he's smart he doesn't re-sign forcing us to franchise him and setting his value for other teams; because alas by then we wouldn't be able to afford him anymore.myopinion. ps i fight for the extra yard before i go down.

Holt would be the #2 guy easy imo.
