I don't expect to get a lot of feedback from the fellas or in general, but, damn, I have always loved Tracy Chapman. Saw her live at the Amnesty concert in Philly. She got up there all by herself with her guitar and just jammed for an hour.

Love her. Love her lyrics. Love her songs. Defintely a CD I would want to have on a deserted island.

Yeah, I can't say much about her. I loved her first CD and still think it's one of the greatest debut albums ever but I wasn't as fond of her next album. I guess through the years I've just kind of forgotten about her. I still have several songs from the Tracy Chapman album in the playlists I most enjoy but other than The Promise I'm just not that familiar with anything she did later on. I'm willing to give her another listen. Which CD would you say comes the closest in style and content to her first release?

Tracy Chapman is terrific. I've seen her sing with everyone from James Taylor to ZIggy Marley, she's just an amazingly talented person.

Not all of her music is my cup of tea, but I know musical talent when I see it. She's all about soul. I love her.

Hows that for feedback?

Telling Stories, I guess. But her first is the best.

I just find her so honest and not afraid to put it out there. I admire that.

i respect the hell out her talent and the way she goes about her business

some songs I really enjoy ... others not as much

but there seems to be no date stamp on her songs .... talent like she has when applied properly is timeless

MESA! :thud:
She did more than "Fast Car" ?? :D
How about "Give Me One Reason"?

Brian was really into her first album, iirc. I liked it very much, too, but am not familiar with anything from her beyond that. As a person I think she is awesome.

Oh, and we share a birthday (except she's older than me), which is really cool. :)

To me, 'Fast Car' is one of the most beautiful tragic songs in modern music. Every single time I hear it, without fail it makes me gulp. Even if she had never done another recording, with that one song you could rest on your laurels.

I've only heard Fast Car and Give Me One Good Reason, but I enjoy both songs.

O, that vid you posted is awesome. Love the guitar.

Hey, that sounds like a great party. Do we have to get neutered first or is that optional?
