Anyone want Chris Webber? If the Kings don't make a good showing in this year's playoffs, I think they'll try to move him.
One idea I came up with is (2004-05 salary in millions and end year of contract)
Phoenix gets
Chris Webber (17.5, 2008)
Doug Christie (7.1, 2006)
Sacramento gets
Shawn Marion (11.3, 2009)
Howard Eisley (6.4, 2006)
The Kings would probably cover SG with some combination of Stojakovic and Jackson. They could keep Divac and start him alongside Miller, which worked well for them.
The Suns would try a double-PF set of Webber/Stoudemire/Johnson/Christie/Someone. It would cost them $8 million of their cap space, but they'd still have enough to add a decent role player or two.
I don't really like the idea, but does anyone else? Are there any Webber scenarios that appeal to anyone? Not too many teams can take on his salary, so the Suns could probably get him if they wanted him.
This all assumes they strike out in the Bryant sweepstakes, of course. But with the Lakers rolling (can anyone honestly say they're surprised), it's looking less and less likely than Bryant will leave.
