Markkanen was 7 foot and could shoot but my mind kept saying Dan Langhi.

This works. Frye proved to be a better player than Langhi. A young Channing Frye would fit nicely in today's NBA.

He would but he was never a clutch player. Lauri wanted the big shots and was very effective.

Lauri also could handle the ball. He showed legit ball skills, especially for a guy his size. I don't know that I can ever recall Frye putting the ball on the court for more than one or two dribbles.

I didn't know much about Lauri heading into the draft other the basics. He has proved to be better than expected.

I'm only saying a young Channing Frye would be in demand in the modern NBA. He got so much grief from a lot of posters because he was not an inside player.

Okay, I should have said "best of the expected- at-the-time lottery picks". I hope I have it right this time, I have no more room for movement here.:)

And I'm thinking the lottery consists of 14 teams.

Here is a thought from Evan Every. I have not considered the Suns trading down from #16.

I think a different strategy would be in play if this happened, like the Suns picking up another pick to do another trade.

Trading down would be a very odd move imho

It doesn't make much sense to me either unless the Suns are looking at every option.

Maybe the Suns are considering trading #16 for a player... then see who is the best player left at #31.

It is something we haven't discussed...maybe the Sun's are prepping for a team to move up and get more future assets since the team will already have so many young players, it will be tough to develop so many players at once.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's a case of Evan not knowing all that much about how this works? It sure seems to me that the later you pick, in general, the more prospects you'd need to fully scout. When you're picking 31st, there are 30 opportunities for your targets to already be gone so you need a lot of options.

This is the direction I decided to go. The Suns are likely doing a thorough job scouting the #31 pick.
