In chris’ Defense I don’t think HE was saying that, I think he was pointing out that others in an article or podcast were saying that.

Correct I am just pointing out some buzz around Ayton possibly not being the top guy and that may be why they look at trading down.

I personally would not agree with that though. Just take Ayton and keep it simple. Maybe he isn't a generational big because he can't defend or loves jump shots. Sure critics I hear you there.

Then like Cheese says people are acting like he is a finished product as well.

In my mind, the only person who stops Ayton is Ayton. If he is committed to be the best then I don't doubt he can be.

Ayton is so strong and long and fast and has such good touch with the ball, that when he physically fills out more, he will likely be the most freakishly power big man since Shaq.

That player is going to produce, he won't even have to try hard to be pretty damn good.

Also, I find it odd that Ayton has people question his drive... he showed way more energy and hustle than Bamba and Bagley.

I think we should take Ayton, but let me post links and videos as to why we shouldn't take him and then argue for the sake of argueing with everyone who thinks we should take him as well. Good grief.

Honestly I think that’s it for 95% of fans. And even then I still think it’s a bit splitting hairs.

I agree. The only other player that made me think twice about taking Ayton at #1 is Jaren Jackson Jr. This is because of his rim protection and 3 point shooting. He may be the 2nd best player in the draft. I think what is happening, fans and media are starting to over dissect the game of the obvious choice... Ayton.

It’s called consider other viewpoints. Typically it’s the type of action that makes you more knowledgeable and receptive (and respected by) other people. I know, shocking concepts.

Ayton will be a Towns/Jokic/Cousins type that puts up impressive numbers but doesn’t greatly impact the game. However I wouldn’t complain because we’d have two elite offensive players in their prime and it would be exciting. The hope is JJ turns into an all-defense caliber player and one of Bender/Chriss takes the next step (or three steps) so we’d be a more complete team. Also we need a legit PG unless you want Booker to keep shooting 42% from the field.

I think that’s the sports society will live in now. Over-analyzation. We have so many sports stations, shows, website, blogs, chat rooms, message boards, etc that’s it bound to happen.

That’s a 2-way street Ouchie.
I’m not the one mocking someone for wanting to post an opposing position. I might not agree with your position and I’ll say it, but I won’t mock you for posting it.

I also think while Chris was misunderstood he could have produced his point a little better, thus avoiding this entire exchange.

And yes I agree that his stats as a freshmen are fantastic from an offensive and rebounding end.

I thought it was funny in the article that they were like "Well when he scores 20 and 10" like it wasn't that impressive.

gotcha.

I think people are just over-analyzing the guy at this point. He's got skills that are out of this world, but it definitely remains to be seen if ever reaches that potential and how much Miller's coaching either held him back or exposed his weaknesses.

Actually he mocked sanders not for having an opposing viewpoint, but for considering someone else having an opposing viewpoint. Man that’s just lame imo.

I actually "mocked" him for having the same view point but posting the opposing and then argueing the opposing for the sake of argueing. ... who even has time for **** like that. . Haha it's like debate practice.

The truth is, even if he isn't the alpha we hope he can be, I think that could be a slight benefit because I believe Booker and JJ are both alphas and there's only so many of those guys you can have on a team without problems in the locker-room.

This might be a little weird to say, but Ayton might be the PERFECT #3. Guy who can get buckets and board, but is able to lean back and let Booker/JJ lead the team with the grit it needs at the top.

At this point we know it has to be Ayton. There is no way around him.

BUT WHAT IF IT'S NOT?!?!?!?

Man, this board will light up like a Christmas Tree if there's a surprise at the top of the draft. I ALMOST would love to see what would happen if there was... but not.

Oh I don’t think there’s any doubt it’s all on Ayton. Nobody denies he’s got the goods. It’s just a matter of making good on all that promise.

They better not trade num 1 pick! Would be the last mistake sarver made if he did.

Ayton has potential it would be like missing out on the Ewing lottery all over again.

I would be curing all day if this happened

They are taking Ayton. The NBA commissioner doesn't want them to announce this ahead of time so there will be more TV viewer interest in the draft. The Suns have actually said this.
