With Ainge now in charge, look for the Celtics to make some moves. Would either side be interested in this?

Phoenix gets
Tony Battie (2006)
Kedrick Brown (2005)

Boston gets
Bo Outlaw (2005)
#17 pick

Brown appears to be a bust and is included to balance the numbers. Battie is an upgrade over Outlaw, so the Suns include the #17. This would give the Celtics consecutive first-round picks in the middle of the first round, which can be very valuable. The Suns would use the money they don't spend on #17 to pick up an extra low-level free agent.

I am sure Boston will be making some big changes during the summer since they are not going far in the playoffs. I see Walker being traded and that might change the hole look of the team. Plus I am sure Boston is pissed at us for the JJ for Rodney and Delk thing and will not be willing to do a trade again. Plus IMO Bo is worth more to the team then getting another center.

Even with two stars, trading Battie would be a disaster for the Celtics. After Walker, he's their best big man because of the walking headache of Vin Baker. Bo Outlaw isn't even our 3rd best big man--I don't see any way Ainge would go for Outlaw over Battie.

Unfortunately I have too agree.

No way that they trade their starting C and their best prospect for Bo Outlaw and #17.
I would do this deal even without Browne because I like Battie.

He is athletic and a good defender.Although he is unselfish he can hit a 15ft mid-range J.
Tony Battie would do pretty well what Suns would need from their C.
I would be worried only about his chronical injuries

I also like Battie, but I just don't think the Celtics would give him up for what we offer.

Remember when we made the trade with the Celtics and there were comments from the celtics that Kedrik Brown was going to be better than JJ.............

:biglaugh:

I would not make that trade, I think that we can get a big man with 17 that will be just as good in a year or two as Battie.
Isn't he about 6' 9" tall??

I do not follow the celtics except in the playoffs that much......is Battie that good??

There is still a possibility for this although not much. Reportedly also Suns wanted Brown first instead of JJ but BOS refused involving Brown to the trade.
I do think that Boston is one of the worst places for Kedrick Brown.

I think that Mickael Pietrus has a pretty good chance to be this year's Kedrick Brown.

For example who?

Report: Ainge working on extension for O'Brien

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services

Former Celtic Danny Ainge, recently hired as Boston's executive director of basketball operations, said he will not trade forward Antoine Walker and that he was working on a contract extension for coach Jim O'Brien.

The story was reported by the Boston Globe on its Web site Wednesday.

"I have absolutely no intention of trading Antoine Walker," Ainge told the Globe. "I will never make a phone call in that regard. I had a talk with Antoine [Tuesday] and told him what I expected of him this summer, his preparation coming into training camp next year. That's my plan. That's what we're planning on doing going forward."

Boston's season ended Monday night when the New Jersey Nets completed a four-game sweep in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Walker averaged just 12 points and missed 35 of 52 shots in the first three games. He had 20 points in Boston's 110-101 Game 4 loss.

Ainge, 44, was hired Friday and reported for work Monday to start preparing for the draft, but said then he wouldn't tinker with the team until after the season.

Ainge told the Globe that talks with O'Brien are under way.

"I am in the process of negotiating a new deal with Jim O'Brien," Ainge said. "I had a conversation with Jim's agent [Lonnie Cooper on Wednesday]."

Team owner Wyc Grousbeck also told the Globe on Wednesday that "paperwork is under way for the assistant coaches, meaning written contract extensions are being prepared."

O'Brien last week hailed Ainge's hiring, which was announced Friday. A member of the 1984 and '86 NBA champions, Ainge was wildly cheered that night when he walked into FleetCenter with Red Auerbach, who drafted Ainge in 1981 and lured him away from Major League Baseball.

"I think it's wonderful. I think it's a great move by our owners," O'Brien said Friday. "In the future, people will look back, I think they will think it's a real step forward and a turning point for our franchise."

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
