Wow is there some wacky rumers out there or what? Look at this list below from this article. How on earth could Penny be traded? Because of the 60 day trading rule he can't be packaged with another player. So he could only be traded straight up. And the Knicks have no draft picks to package. Who on earth would trade for Penny straight up? There are rumors and then there are some real whoppers.

"Other names being mentioned in trade rumors included Golden state center Erick Dampier, Dikembe Mutombo and Penny Hardaway of New York, Brent Barry of Seattle, Donyell Marshall and Morris Peterson of Toronto, Juwan Howard, Gordan Giricek, Shammond Williams, Tyronn Lue and Steven Hunter of Orlando, Chucky Atkins of Detroit, Marcus Fizer of Chicago and most anyone on the Utah Jazz with the exception of All-Star Andrei Kirilenko. I love the Billups for Francis. These rumors should be printed on the funny pages. I'm laughing my butt off reading this stuff. Hoops Hype has a nice page full of real laughers right now (this is not a knock on Hoops Hype. They're just reprinting other published rumors. Which are fun to read BTW).

"Elsewhere in the league, some big names are being mentioned, with one league source yesterday suggesting the Detroit Pistons are talking about a deal that would send Chauncey Billups to the Houston Rockets for star guard Steve Francis."

I don't think that Francis is THAT much better than Billups. If you threw in Prince that wouldn't be that unequitable.

Some of this is a function of "star power". This is the first year Billups has played really really well, while Francis has been a very visible star for a long time.

If someone said that a deal of JJ to the Celtics for Paul Pierce was in the works (ignoring the cap issue), no one would take it seriously. Yet this year (1994) JJ is probably playing better. But who has heard of JJ? (BTW, this is an example not a rumor). :D

It's not 1994? Where in the heck did the time go?

There are three sure signs of aging. First the memory goes. Second the legs. And I can't remember the third.
