with the trade deadline in three weeks -- some thoughts on who Monti could target.

My criteria

1. Teams that look out of it / likely to be out of it in a couple weeks
2. Players who will be UFAs this coming offseason
3. These will be rentals -- so draft pick comp shouldnt be too high

Obvious target:

Hasaan Reddick of the Jets

O-line help:

Morgan Moses, RT, Jets. Older but competent. Jets have Olu Fashanu waiting in the wings.
Brandon Scherff, G, Jags.

D-line help:

Javon Kinlaw, IDL. nothing special but probably becomes the Cards 2nd best DL (pending Darius Robinson's return)
Calais Campbell, Dolphins. Sentimental choice.
Sebastian Joseph-Day, DT Titans.

WR:
Christian Kirk, Jags. you know who caught the most deep TDs from Kyler 2019-2021? this guy. Maybe the 2022 fall off had something to do with not replacing him.

Obvious target:

Hasaan Reddick of the Jets For nothing except a 6th or 7th. we're approaching mid season and we have no clue what shape he is in.

O-line help:

Morgan Moses, RT, Jets. Older but competent. Jets have Olu Fashanu waiting in the wings. Jets are set up better than the Cardinals with the same record, doubt they trade.
Brandon Scherff, G, Jags. Could do this, but again nothing more than a 6th or 7th

D-line help:

Javon Kinlaw, IDL. nothing special but probably becomes the Cards 2nd best DL (pending Darius Robinson's return)
Calais Campbell, Dolphins. Sentimental choice. Pull the trigger
Sebastian Joseph-Day, DT Titans.

WR:
Christian Kirk, Jags. you know who caught the most deep TDs from Kyler 2019-2021? this guy. Maybe the 2022 fall off had something to do with not replacing him. Not gonna happen, wide receiver room is complete plus kirks salary is obnoxious

Love the thread...would be nice to see but no signs pointing to us being buyers vs sellers.

My guess is we stay put.

Outside chance - we trade Budda but it would take a lot in return to risk disturbing the team chemistry.

You missed the most obvious guy. There is a chance the Browns would be willing to trade Myles Garrett so they have the cap freedom to move off of Deshaun Watson.

Man I would love that trade. I was touting the kid all year. In fact I asked if someone could Photoshop one of those bong gasmasks on him and send it out so he would drop to us.

you swung for the fences -- i focused on small time moves that could help over the back half of the year

Heard on one of the more trustworthy podcasts that Zay Jones is a Trade potential to the Chiefs, because he Will not move ahead of Wilson and the team mainly plays 12&13. We are not bringing in a WR.

Edge Or DL help.

you have to peruse the Saints roster as well, and for more than guys that will be UFAs next year.

they are an insane $81mm over the $272mm salary cap in 2025.

however, somehow they keep getting under and fielding a competitive team, but still

Not a big Kinlaw fan but he is probably better than most of the guys we have.

Depends what it would cost, he's had a history of injury so you don't want to give up too much.

agreed about WR's it seems like a logical thing to upgrade but we play so much 2 and 3 TE it's probably not worth doing. Wilson played better last week, if he keeps that up with Marv you can argue there's no point trading for a WR.

Especially not with Jones back in the fold.

I think the offense could use a speed receiver though. I don't really see Jones or Dortch as that type of receiver even if I like Dortch.

Oh I agree our Wr room is not great but the way we play I almost think we're probably not interested in a trade unless someone is just giving away such a guy.

Unless we are talking DeVanta Adams, which I highly doubt, I see no reason for a WR. The potential marginal advantage for someone vs. Wilson is not worth slowing the development of Wilson down.

Agree.... maybe look for a slot speedster in next year's draft...over 6 foot...

I would go a long way in buying a quality edge rusher. The season is far from over yet, and the division could be winnable.

I am looking at teams that are not going anywhere anyway. Harold Landry from Ossenfort's former Titans. Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals. And obviously Reddick, even though the Jets are still relevant.

Cornerback Greg Newsome from the Browns could be a dark horse, but the Cards probably prefer to develop all their draft selected CB's.
