I only caught the trade screen on the game for a second....Was there a draft pick involved? I thought I may have saw that.

White's contract does not expire until after next season contrary to what was written earlier on this page. At least according to the following web site it doesn't.

http://www.nationwide.net/~patricia/contracts

It looks like he will make a little over $5 million this season and next.

If there was a draft pick involved it better be coming to the Suns. White is big, but he's not great. He's also got an extra season at $5 million on his contract.

let's see if barbosa starts to get some PT now that Knight's gone. Or, penny might start to get more minutes again, smiliar to last year.

Well, at least they tried. But the Outlaw/Tsakalidis trade is looking pretty stupid right now. The money savings has now been reduced to a trivial amount, and if there's one player who makes Tsakalidis look like he has good hands, it's Jahidi White.

Just curious, but what's your basis for that assessment?

Every writer says he has "hands of stone." That doesn't mean anything by itself, but I have also watched him play -- I had Stackhouse on my fantasy team last year and Arenas this year. He indeed does have a lot of trouble catching the ball in traffic and collecting rebounds cleanly.

Tsakalidis had significant problems, but no way is White anything more than a marginal improvement. So basically they are paying White the same money they would have paid Outlaw, to be as good as Tsakalidis -- and Outlaw is gone.

As far as I'm concerned, this is already an acknowledgement that the first trade was a mistake.

But we still have Archibald and Trybanski!!!

Dumb, Dumb trade. Essentially this is Bo and Big Jake for White. At least the Memphis trade gave them the potential to use their MLE next year. Now that Option is gone.

At least the whiney fans who think good centers grow on trees will be happy now that we have a more balanced team. But quite frankly, I'd rather have Bo than White, let alone Big Jake and Bo.

Does this make people feel better?

White played his 4 minutes this year in a game against Jersey, and in that 4 minutes, the only stats he accumulated was 1 turnover and 1 block.

That's 14 blocks per 48!!!! Yeah!!!!!!

Well, my second post in this thread originally included a paragraph about how much I do not like this trade. I decided to take it out because I did not want to kill any excitement that might have been here following a trade for a big man. I should have known I could count on Eric to do that for me. :)

I see this trade the same way many of you have. Essentially it was Bo Outlaw and Jake Tsakalidis for White. It still saves a couple million dollars this season in luxury tax and salary. But I would much rather have Bo Outlaw and Jake Tsakalidis instead of white and the minimal savings.

Oh yeah, and as Chap pointed out the Phoenix Suns also ended up with Archibald and Trybanski. What a deal! :)

Jahidi White? Ewwwwww......

Battie would have been MUCH better.

If White was the only available C then Suns rather should had to keep Knight's expiring contract.

If the Suns had kept Clifford Robinson in the first place, they would be done with his salary by now and would have had a better player in the meantime.

The team is trapped in a spiral of making stupid cost-cutting moves, finding they leave the team unable to compete, and then needing to make stupid cost-adding moves in order to compensate for the talent they gave away.

And I do think that the offense must be the worst coached in the entire league. As others have eloquently said, it is all based on one-on-one play.

cliff robinson brought jud buechlar (and wallace, but who cares) which brought Bo Outlaw AND our 1st pick back.

It was established that the pick was not Amare, but it was Zarko.....

edit:

However I do see your point.

“This deal gives us a physical, athletic presence that compliments the style and direction of our team,” Suns President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo said.
:stupid:

If you ask me, they’re grasping for straws – or do I mean gasping? Hell, Alton Ford (6'9" 280 lbs vs 6'9" 290 lbs) was about the same size and had close to the same amount of PT. Probably someone will tell me how short Ford's arms are.

Is this dumb or what? I'm sorry, but someone needs to start counting backwards from 100 by 7's..... or maybe BC should draw a picture of a clock showing the time of 3 O'clock.

Yes, but if Orlando was willing to take that crap for Bo Outlaw and the #1 you've got to assume they would have given even more for Cliff Robinson. He would have been a better player for them, and his salary expired the same year as Jud's.

BTW and I'm sure the Phoenix Suns would have also preferred to get Tony Battie. Perhaps Boston wasn't willing to let go of him or was asking too much. It doesn't change the fact that I don't like this deal though.

I thought it was Jacobsen? I hesitate to bring it up, because my memory is that we've debated this here endlessly and not come up with a definitive answer, and the Suns' front office, for whatever reason, isn't sharing the straight story with the fan base.

Casey Jacobsen was drafted with the pick acquired from Boston in the Joe Johnson, Rodney Rogers, and Tony Delk trade.

You are right Eric, it would have been Jacobson. Of course who knows if we would have asked for that years 1st rounder from Boston if we knew it was going to go straight to orlando.

Overall, a horrible trade. Plain and simple.

I can't picture White even playing much anyways.
