Think about it. Steve Nash is getting older and while I still expect him to be a top 20 player I doubt he will hold the title as the best point guard at the end of the next year. I would also rather have the dominating big man who has shown improvement in every season so far. This guy has been working out since Day 1 of the off-season and I am convinced he will take back the title as the best center in the league next year.

Plus isn't a big man more important than a point guard? While Nash makes the Suns go that is because the system is based entirely around him. You switch to a half-court offense and Nash is not a MVP candidate the last three years and don't try to convince me that the SUns are better off with there offense being run & gun. It has been proven that to win a championship you need to be a primely half court offense team.

Isn't that the same thing Mark Cuban thought? How has that worked out for the Mavericks? I think they're still looking for Nash's replacement, BTW.

Pretty sure they got a replacement already.

Nash deserves a Ring before he retires. But if he wants one, he'll need to be Tony Parker's backup. My Spurs likes to sign old dudes. We'll take him!

Go tell Boston and LA in the 80s that an uptempo system can't work.

If one aspect of a basketball game could beat all opposing teams and win Championships, the Suns wouldn't still be NBA Championship virgins.

The Suns small-ball tunnel vision (as bad this year as any -- 7-man rotations; not using a backup Center or Point Guard; three Guards at crunch time; etc.) have been proven to be more detrimental than an uptempo system has been beneficial.

Just check the box score.

What is the Suns coaching problem? It is one-dimensional.

Do not bump year old threads under the guise of "I am a long time lurker".

I don't buy it. I am 99.9% sure that you are the poster who started this thread and are attempting to toot your own horn. You failed.

"Long time lurker" with a join date of today, knowing that the mods check IPs, bumping a year old post from a guy with multiple banned accounts, and carrying on his old arguements.

The failures have nothing to do with an up tempo offense. Mike D's offense is innovative and exciting to watch. He's a very good if not great offensive coach. Where he falters is in instilling a defensive mindset and gametime decision making.

At least thats my observation.

Nash will eventually be a 6th man, and be a darn good one. A 10/7 player off the bench who nails 3 point shots at a 50% clip.

But thats in a couple of seasons, Suns will need to have a replacement by then. Suns will need DJ to either be a 15/7 point guard, or get a Hinrich/Calderon/Ford pg.. or better yet.. a Paul/Williams... but thats just asking for the moon.
