Hey 82-----KNOW THIS-----Whiz knows exactly why he asked the FO to bring Porter in. Porter knows exactly what expectations Whiz has of him. Among those expectations is that, (just like it is Lott's job to get the players minds right about their conditioning), it will be Porter's job to get their minds right on game day. He excells at this, no matter whose system he plays under. He patrols the locker room, and the hallways, and the tunnel, making sure that EVERYONE has their mind right for the game. THAT is the biggest difference that Porter will make with this team, but it is a HUGE difference believe me. We have not had an attitude adjuster here before now.

Be prepared to see a big difference in HOW our Defense approaches each game now. You will not likely see silly little back flips, (ala Rolle) after a play this year. If you see a celebration at all on the field, it will be primal. It will be gutteral. It will be noticed by the opponent, and more importantly, it WILL be feared by the opponent. There WILL be a new attitude. Porter will see to it.

Sounds great! And I'll admit that I am very excited to see a change in HOW our defense approaches games. Rolle's backflips were mildly annoying - however, I gotta say, DRC's antics are way beyond anything Rolle ever did. I would LOVE to see Porter smack DRC upside his head for doing one of his STUPID celebrations at a time when the game is out of reach...
Still, it's gonna take more for me than merely seeing a change in attitude. It would be a great start for sure! But in the end, the Cards defense has simply not been respected in decades... As a total unit, they've been horrible more often than not.
Results are what is needed. If a change in attitude ultimately brings about those results, terrific! But IIRC, Dockett brings an attitude as well, doesn't he? He carries a serious chip on his shoulder too, right? And that hasn't done all that much in the way of results. So I'm more than a little skeptical of a guy like Porter, who's past his prime, coming in and somehow creating an attitude "change" that will then translate into results on the field... I just need to see it before I buy into it. And no, I'm not from Missouri! ;)

Exactly what I hope he brings to the defense and without question he is able to do it. Its just gonna be a question of if everyone buys into it or not. If they do its gonna be fun to watch a team that comes out and tries to not only dominate the game but demoralize you and make you feel bad about yourself as a human. BIRDGANG!

I'm with you on this. DD, Adub and now Porter all have that tude. So 3 is better then 2 so just how many assassins does a defense need to turn the corner. For example can Porter turn CC into an assassin. That's not saying CC doesn't play well but does he really have the assassin attitude?

I use to live in Missouri and I stayed at a Holiday Express.

I grew up in Kansas, (close enough to understand).

Think about this, whereas DD and Adub have that 'tude, Porter prowls the locker room instilling it on those who don't have it. It's like he feels that it is his job to do so. I am betting that part of Whiz's reasons for bringing him here is just that. Whiz knows we were too soft, and where Adud leads by example, Porter will be getting after people to get serious about stuff. Since he is a successful veteran player, many people will listen to him, especially youngsters, ala CC. Should be a good thing. :D

Dockett doesn't strike me as guy who scares opposing QBs with his attitude like per say LT in his prime did. He gets along way too much with the opposing team. Just watch him mic'd up against the Rams.
