I agree. I think with players it would, but IMO, there was simply a large valley between Toast and the coaches. What it was, who knows. Water under the bridge.

Anderson, man. Anderson. And you don't know how hard I'm pulling for him to turn this around, either. I only yelled at him once yesterday, and it wasn't even mean. Mostly just hands on my head, shaking it sadly.

Oh, and no to Edwards. Unless we are cutting Scud Anderson for him. And even then no thanks...better the devil you know. And the sooner we move to Hall and see what we have in him.

Call me crazy but I would actually take a shot. The kid is just a different QB outside of the swirling winds of Buffalo. Over the last 3 years his away stats are way better then at home. 5% better completion(65%), 1 more yard per attempt(7.5 which isn't a dink and dunk amount).

I would take a shot at him IMO. I have no problem getting rid of one of our 6 CB's or 5 S's in order to keep Skelton on the roster as well.

We already have 2 potentials in our crib

Do those potentials have a 65% completion percentage at 7.5 yards a clip outside of Buffalo?

They may turn out well but I still don't understand all this faith put into a UDFA who no one even wanted as a UDFA(proven by his measly 5k signing bonus), a guy who wasn't all that good in college, and a 5th round small school guy. Not willing to put all my eggs into that basket yet.

Well to me it's like getting socks for Christmas. I got the socks and have to deal with them - they're socks and know what they are and what they are not. However, I don't want a package of T-shirts to go along with the socks; thanks, but I might take a chance with those two other boxes left under the tree.

Ok, it's a bizzare metaphor but I hope those 2 other presents under the tree aren't just filled with styrofoam popcorn and a $5 gift certificate to Arby's.

Not sure who replaces him on the Bills - not a great sign when you lose your job to Ryan Fitzpatrick (i think that's his name......)

Pariah is right though - he's a different kind of suck ..... loves the check down, very conservative approach - supposed to be one of those heady game manager type QBs ........ but just isn't

i think the bills had something like 100 yards passing total in his 2 starts this year or some idiotic # like that

Brian Brohm is the other QB.

You can't fix DA's suckiness either. So, I guess it's pick your poisen. Personally I would rather have the guy with talent no matter how much of an ass people think he is.

I would take a look at Edwards just for the mere fact that he can't be any worse than Anderson. The problem is Whiz is not going to bring him in to start, if at all, this year. If Scud would go down, then Edwards i'm sure would get a hard look but as a backup to Hall.

At this rate, I dont think the win +/- would change either way. While I think Edwards is better, he still has to get a grasp on the offense and that'll probably take a few weeks. At this rate, DA has more immersion in the offense and is the lesser of the sucky QBs at this moment. If a move like that were to be made, it would be an admission of defeat and preparation for next season. And in that situation, Id rather start grooming Hall than trying to get another third-tier team castoff to work in our system. Not worth the risk. JMHO.

Also, I dont think he is the type of QB Whis wants. He is "Captain Checkdown" as my Bills fan buddy so eloquently calls him. He is less of a risk taker than Leinart was (as hard as that is to believe) and I think Whis wants someone willing to take risks.

You'd think he'd want someone who could make a decent throw and complete a pass downfield

Yup...but that person is not Trent. He will check check check check check check check and check down til you puke out your Bud Light.

If in July we knew the circumstances we know now (Leinart exiting and Anderson failing), Id be all for signing him. But at this rate, if we start losing and are literally no hope to win the NFC Worst, then bring in Mad Max

I wanted Matt to start the opening game and make it big time. Then we were still set at QB for years to come. However when the writing on the wall became clear exactly what the problem was I knew it was the right move.

Fill us in! Because I am still wondering "exactly what the problem was".
What was it that made the situation with Leinart unworkable?

Did Leinart hit on Whisenhunt's daughter or something? :p

I recall that during this past offseason Jurecki on his talk show said that the Cards liked Edwards and might try to get him. That was before they signed DA.
Buffalo was not interested in dealing him at that time.

Add Larry Fitzgerald to that mix if you watched him at the game yesterday.

I'm with Joe; Edwards is a different player outside Ralph Wilson Stadium. It's amazing that so many think Anderson can be rehabilitated, but no one believes in Edwards.

He's a young Marc Bulger.

Switching from a demoralized Cleveland castoff to a demoralized Buffalo castoff is out of the fying pan and into the fire IMO. (Although DA isn't actually demoralized now that I think about it).

Hall doesn't sound like a QB who needs or wants to be babied in his development. If we are going to make a switch, maybe he has more upside than Edwards this season.

No... but he is certainly "demoralizing" to this fan.

I think he took such a beating at Stanford and then again at Buffalo he's a bit shell shocked.

I thought he had a chance to be a good QB, in 08 it looked like Buffalo had a steal, he was looking like he might be pretty good. But 09 he got beaten to a pulp, 23 sacks in 183 PA's, don't know if their OL got worse or if the NFL figured him out or what but his big plays fell off and as others said he became a check it down guy.

The first 2 games started out similarly 7 sacks in 52 attempts, only 2 plays over 20 yards. Apparently the fans nicknames included Captain Checkdown and Trent-ative.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he asked for his release after Gailey committed to Fitzpatrick for the rest of the season.

I'd love to see the kid get another shot, he probably will, but I don't think he's going to help someone this year.

I think he needs to gets his confidence back.
