Buffalo's OL is REALLY bad. Both last year and this one. I don't know if this is a Patrick Ramsay thing or not, but I feel he remains a better short- and long-term option than Hall or Skelton.

Call me crazy but I would actually take a shot. The kid is just a different QB outside of the swirling winds of Buffalo. Over the last 3 years his away stats are way better then at home. 5% better completion(65%), 1 more yard per attempt(7.5 which isn't a dink and dunk amount).

I would take a shot at him IMO. I have no problem getting rid of one of our 6 CB's or 5 S's in order to keep Skelton on the roster as well.

What about one of our really bad punt returners?

If he (Edwards) clears waivers, don't be surprised if the Cards don't bring him in for a tryout.

FWIW Mortenson said he won't clear waivers several teams are considering claiming him, didn't name any of the teams.

I saw that both the 49ers and Seahawks are interested in him.

The Bills surprisingly dumped quarterback Trent Edwards on Monday, a day after word broke that they were trying to trade him.

So now Edwards, who is in his fourth NFL season, will be required to pass through waivers. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that multiple claims are expected to be made.

And here's where things get potentially interesting. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tells us that the 2009 standings control all waiver claims made through today; as of September 28, the 2010 records determine dibs.

This could result in a team like the 0-3 49ers (whom we're told like Edwards) losing out on the Stanford product to the 2-1 Seahawks (whom we're told also like Edwards), given that the 49ers finished 8-8 last year and the Seahawks finished 5-11.

The 2009 priority would apply regardless of the fact that the Seahawks beat the 49ers in Week One, 31-6.

Here's some advice to the Competition Committee. If two of the teams making a claim have played each other in the current year, the prior year's finish shouldn't matter. In that circumstance, the team that lost the head-to-head meeting in the current year always should have priority over the team that won the game.

I think florio just sprouted those 2 teams just to throw in his little diatribe about waiver priority .... there has been zero chatter out of seattle about claiming edwards .... there is pretty much zero discussion about him getting cut

seattle has 2 QBs on their active roster and wouldn't be looking to add a 3rd .... especially one that doesn't fit the mold of what they are looking for long term

Two NFL executives told ESPN's Chris Mortensen they believe Edwards will be claimed on waivers by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks are among the teams expected to put in a claim.

Guess we are sticking with Anderson for sure.

Do those potentials have a 65% completion percentage at 7.5 yards a clip outside of Buffalo?

They may turn out well but I still don't understand all this faith put into a UDFA who no one even wanted as a UDFA(proven by his measly 5k signing bonus), a guy who wasn't all that good in college, and a 5th round small school guy. Not willing to put all my eggs into that basket yet.

Finally........a piece i totally agree without mentioning the name of any quarterback named anderson or leinert. does this mean i am thrilled with what is going on.....no, but anyone who is out there now is a total reach and i surely don't have the answer for next year at this point.

Edwards was claimed off waivers by Jacksonville. He's going to help mentor David Garrard to higher levels of suckage.
