Bauer was traded by the Indians, who are currently leading the AL Wild Card Race (and only 3 back in the Division) to the Reds for a basket of mediocre players (highlighted by Yasiel Puig).

He had a temper tantrum Sunday during a game.

What's interesting about the trade now is that the Dbacks acquired Didi Gregorius for Bauer. The Dbacks later traded Didi to the Yankees for Robbie Ray.

In dealing away Didi Gregorius and acquiring Robbie Ray, the Diamondbacks on Friday used their depth at shortstop to land a left-hander they believe will develop into a high-impact starting pitcher.

In what amounted to a three-team deal, the Diamondbacks sent Gregorius to the Detroit Tigers for Ray and infield prospect Domingo Leyba. Gregorius was immediately redirected to the New York Yankees, who sent right-handerShane Greene to the Tigers.

Gregorius has done well for the Yankees. Greene is solid in Detroit, and Ray has been a fixture in the Dbacks rotation.

That and Miguel Montero didn't like him.

I would rather have a great pitcher who is a bit unstable than a hack who is a great guy and clear headed (Merrill Kelly).
