The Commish

Bauer is essentially Nuke Laloosh (he even looks like him). Whether or not he puts it all together remains to be seen.

I learned early on that when someone refers to a ballplayer as "the best SS", he is referring to his fielding. It covers only one aspect. Just as we now hear that comparing him to Jeter referred to his range in the field and nothing else.Brandon Phillips said on twitter he is the best SS he has ever played next to. I'll take his and a GM's opinion over the boards who knows nothing about Bauers progression and attitude.

If they had said "the best all-around SS", that would have had referred to his hitting and, to a lesser degree, base running as well.
We aren't building a fantasy baseball team. The steroid era is over. Defense is key for Shortstops now.

Did you see the interview with Miggy at FanFest - he hammered Bauer - Bauer wouldn't listen to a word Miggy would say.
Who cares? They traded a top pitching prospect for crap and crap has a bad elbow. Towers needs to go.

I do.
If a pitcher is not listening to the All-Star catcher, then the pitcher is not doing his job.
Unless Bauer changes his attitude, he is worth less than crap with a bad elbow.

So which one is immature? The one who publicly bad mouths the other, or the one to kept it in house?
Isn't this what coaching staffs are for? Kids can be jerks. Kids grow up. Feel free to not give up on a kid because he was a jerk to a teammate.
And when he is the same jerk to his coaches? Refusing to listen to them as well?
Try a new approach with him? Leadership 101.
And you know that they didn't try?

. He was just 3 overall 16 months ago. Then he struggled his first time up and they sold low for a SS who isn't ready to be out Chad Pennington? If Bauer were of Reggie Jackson type prowess, perhaps teammates, coaches and owners would be willing to put up with his crap.
But he's not of course. There have been plenty of really talented kids who were supposed to be "great", but, never panned out because of the mess between their ears. If all it took were coaches to somehow fix that mess, well, you might see more Dr. Phil's in the dugout than Kirk Gibson's...
Sometimes... most of the time, it is simply a matter of a person growing up and realizing that he's actually not the best player on the field. That he's not worthy of any special treatment and that, oh my - he just might have to earn that type of respect by the play on the field and the way he conducts himself in the clubhouse...
Hope the kid comes to this realization one day soon...
They traded him.
They called him up. He failed miserably. They sent him back to AAA in order to work out changes in his behavior. They worked with him (or tried to) over the winter. Then they traded him.
