The contract standoff between the Cincinnati Bengals and star defensive end Trey Hendrickson seems to get hourly updates at this point, especially with trade rumblings from different parties going out so often.

But the latest is a two-part effort combining comments from an NFL insider and a current Bengals player. It all hits on the same theme, too -- Hendrickson wants to stay with the Bengals.

During his press conference after inking his extension during free agency, B.J. Hill said this about his fellow defensive lineman: “He wants to be in Cincinnati. I know for a fact.”

And during an appearance on a PHNX Sports podcast, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo had this to say about it: "Trey Hendrickson wants to be in Cincinnati and Cincinnati wants to make it work."

All of this, of course, matches what Hendrickson has said from the start. But the current standoff resulted in the team giving his reps permission to seek a trade. As it turns out, his reps reportedly found teams willing to pay the pass-rusher what he wants on a new contract after a trade.

This, then, puts much pressure on the Bengals to match the apparent market and otherwise work something out, or actually do a trade that nobody really expects.
