Through the last 3 seasons we average 23% 12 personnel.

Looking at the snap counts this year it looks the same if not higher. Ertz is playing 85% of snaps. McBride is averaging around 34% the last 5 games as was Maxx Williams before that.

So were probably playing 2 TE's somewhere between 25-30% of the time.

McBride has run 45 routes on his 129 snaps but only had 3 targets.

Ertz has run 291 routes on 505 snaps and had 60 targets. or all the talk of "Why haven't we targeted Ertz this half" which is true, he does go weird spells without a target, he's actually had a 20% target share when running a route.

Right but in the past, especially year 1, it worked better. This year it hasn't seemed to work as well.

3 words.

Bad. Quarterback. Play.

If you put that in the what3words app it shows you Kyler's address.

It's not complicated why X, Y and Z isn't working.

Kyler is a good quarterback, he's just playing horribly right now. Only one person can fix that.

I'd love to hear some stories about Kyler working late with his receivers, doing extra film study with them or doing anything extra to get right. But we all know that will never happen.

I guess I wasn't paying attention on draft day because I thought the book on him was good receiver not a good blocker so the blocking part hasn't surprised me. I like the kid again my issue was and I said this after the draft, if we're going to play 2 TE's then I like this pick, and frankly I like playing 2 TE's. But given the capital we've expended at WR, trade for D Hop, trade for Hollywood, drafting Rondale, it seemed unlikely to me we were going to play him enough to justify a 2nd rounder.
The read was good receiver and willing blocker, but with limited success in the latter function.

Yeah this handwringing is going to look pretty dumb if McBride works out. It's early.
It's not really that early. Usually any rookie worth his salt is producing by mid year, he isn't.

However, I will grant you with Kliff as the coach this is not a typical situation.

Gets open all time time. Just not targeted.

He was missed in the EZ for a TD yesterday. Open but not seen.

Had a catch called back for a holding or false start. I think was 15 yards.
I've noticed that his hands aren't all that good

Looking back at the catches that he actually has the ball seems to be moving and he has trouble securing it

If it's nerves he needs to get over that or else he just be a guy

Yeah, he was so wide open for that TD. Luckily Colt made the 1st down. It's weird he didn't see him, though, because he rolled out to the same side (right) and basically trailed him to the 1st down.

My hope faded for him earlier in the year. We called a te screen for him and he didn't break one tackle in wide open space.

Same thing happened in the first Rams game. Missed in the EZ for a TD.

He could have 250 yards and 3 TDs this year at least.

I called it out in the game thread the high throw that d Hop couldn't pull down, McBride is wide open on the same play. I jokingly asked later if he was invisible after the one in the end zone.

I assume the QB's just haven't thrown to him enough to trust him yet. The latest I've seen on Ertz is they think the ACL is intact but out several weeks, and waiting on MRI results so that could change but I'm hoping it's not torn. So McBride is going to get more work I hope we actually throw him the ball when he's open

On that McCoy rollout McBride got yanked down by the jersey by #2. Maybe McCoy saw him going down and thought it would be a bad idea to throw.

Bump just to point out that sometimes we have to give a player some slack/time to develop.

See Ojulari.
This is a very lame effort. McBride had FOUR receptions on the season when this thread was abandoned. Once this thread petered out McBride was producing on pace for 55 receptions, 512 yards, and 2 TDs, which was fairly good for a rookie TE.

Doesn't prove anything about Ojulari, who was nothing for his entire rookie campaign.
