This isn't meant to be confrontational, but what's your definition of a "good team"?
Is it somewhere in the middle 10 of NFL teams?
Like, I don't think this team is talented enough to beat these teams the majority of the time (any given Sunday, etc., etc.):
Buffalo
Miami
Baltimore
Cincy
KC
Los Angeles Chargers
Philly
Green Bay
Minnesota
Tampa
LA Rams (obviously)
That's 11 teams that IMO we clearly don't have enough talent to compete with. If that was our schedule, I'd expect us to go 3-8.
Right now, the teams we'd be favored against are probably Carolina (though we were underdogs against them last week), Houston, Washington, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and maybe the Jets. I just can't define being the best of the worst teams as "good."
Now I acknowledge there are counter points to be made for pretty much all of these, but:
1. Murray is among the most athletically gifted to ever play the position and at his best can be a huge difference maker against anyone.
2. Conner is among the best 3rd down/goal line back in the league. Problem is we are paying and using him as something more and don’t have the complementary back he needs.
3. Hopkins, Brown, and Ertz are a top tier 1-2-3 punch once D-Hop is back. The depth is more concerning than expected though.
4. Our OL lacks top end talent, but when everyone is healthy (which they haven’t been) has the most depth we have ever had at the position.
5. Watt and Allen are proving to be a great tandem (when healthy of course), but the lack of a strong NT hurts.
6. We have an obvious talent gap at OLB, where Golden is serviceable but this is a huge weakness.
7. Collins and Simmons have as much athletic talent as you can find at the position, and it seems like the light bulb is finally clicking for Collins which may open up Simmons to be more in the playmaking role he should be in. Whether the coaching will ever maximize their potential is very much up for debate.
8. Budda, Jalen, and Murphy are proving to be 3/4 of an excellent secondary. Getting the extra 2 or 3 corners you need in today’s NFL continues to be a challenge.
Overall, I feel like the team has enough talent to compete with anyone. Talent is only one component though - you need the coaching, work ethic (especially at QB), and health/availability too. I feel that these areas have let us down more than not having enough talented players on the roster.
