I think it's safe to say that this franchise has never enjoyed the accolades and recognition now being routinely showered upon them. Be it national media outlets like NFL Network and ESPN, or individual and well-respected voices within the game and within the world of sports media, it is truly a stunning turn of events.
I was listening to Doug & Wolf this morning... They did a terrific spot with Al Michaels who stated: 1.) The franchise is now known as one of the "Elite" franchises in the NFL! 2.) Michael Bidwill is viewed as one of the "Best & Brightest, Up & Coming leaders within the ownership group", and that Michael will become of the leading voices within the game, particularly among the owners. 3.) He of course hailed the exploits of Steve Keim, as well as Arians... 4.) He boldly predicted that the Cardinals are "built to last" and will therefore be a contender on a routine/sustained basis!

Jon Clayton see's the game tomorrow as an easy win for the Cardinals saying the Packers can't run and the Cardinals can defend the pass...

I can't get enough of the praise and the recognition that is due on behalf of this team. I've been around long enough to know that turn-arounds of this scale just don't happen much, if at all... The degree of improvement, from top to bottom and side to side with this franchise is simply remarkable.

All that said, I'd be lying if it all doesn't add to my angst... I really believe we will take care of business tomorrow. We are simply the superior team in every measurable. But I'm still nervous... and incredibly amped! I can't wait to be at UoP and get this party started!!!

Yeah, I hope everyone is finally jumping off the "Same ol Cards" train. This isn't Papa B, Rod Graves, Bob Ferguson, etc anymore.

But, to Papa B's credit he always said the Cards would be a better contender with their own stadium. The Cards finally have their own home and three smart fellows running the ship. This is a time we all dreamed about, but had a hard time seeing that future at SDS. Well, here it all is right in front of us.

A lot of people lambast Bill for some of his actions and I'll admit some of the things he did to save money were ridiculous. But, he was never wavering in his contention that an NFL team needs its own home to be truly competitive, and the team has been true to that word and done everything they can to compete since U of P opened. Yes there were some bad years but there was always an effort - and it has paid off in spades.

Which makes me laugh that St. Louis has now lost two teams after kissing the Rams butt for a few years. It's just too bad it took 20 years in the desert to get a stadium built but it is a nice place. GBR!

I'll talk heady times when they win tomorrow. Until then, they've proven themselves a fantastic regular season squad. Now it's time to show they can do it in the super season.

My post was much more about the franchise as a whole... But yea - if they choke it up tomorrow, they'll instantly be put into recovery and "prove it" mode once again...

Agreed.

I am not used to the hype around the team right now, and do not know really how to act because of it.

And I say, who cares, open up the wagon doors, set up some chairs, and let them in!

Funny how things like, "fans are most responsive to winning percentage in the NFL based on our statistical model of attendance." is frowned upon now, but when there are lockouts, strikes, free agency, and ticket price increases, you hear nothing but, "Well, is a business.".

Well, like good business people, they only invest when the business is doing good. So, I say don't go around spouting business and then get all butt hurt when people treat it like one.

It is time to celebrate with all Cardinals fans, IMO. I don't care if they cannot name a player on the team, just scream, yell, have a good time, and let's beat the Packers.

New owner and new GM changed everthing. HC was also a big factor. But they guys bringing in the talent and keeping them here is the huge change.

don't need to hear any of those losers saying nice things about the RedBirds...I see our team and know what they are.........and I have never made a career out of calling them a joke

I enjoy the team having success,.... but one of the absolute best parts of becoming successful was seeing a jackass like al michaels be uncomfortable because he did not know what to say when we were kicking the crap out of everybody we faced....he couldn't call us a joke anymore, or quip about the nfl should disband our franchise....but he still could not even get the names of our starters correct.

Which is a load of horsecrap. The Steelers built a dynasty playing in a multipurpose stadium sharing it with the Pirates. The Raiders were a top tier AFC team for decades sharing a stadium with the A's and let's not forget the dynasty the 49ers had playing in Candlestick with the Giants. Hell, the football Giants have been wildly successful sharing with the Jets. No, Billy Bids was was the epitome of cheap. Here's an article before the Super Bowl in 2009 where Jim Hart speaks of Bill's cheapness: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/ex-players-recall-cardinals-tortured-history-relish-super-bowl-chance-article-1.421653:

"Unfortunately it was management that did us in and not the players," said Hart. "Mr. Bidwill would not give Don Coryell the leadership or money that he wanted and he let Terry Metcalf go for what in today's dollars is a pittance. You take away the guts of your success and poof, what do you have?"

And it is said that Bill once made the comment that he didn't want to win the Super Bowl because it would mean having to pay his players more money. You should read Dobler's book too. He holds nothing back.

with regards to the title of this thread -- listen to what Al Michaels has to say

beyond just the team: he considers the Cards to be a top tier NFL franchise now

Yup... That's what I said... ;)

From an organizational standpoint, I say they've earned this. Now they have to earn this praise from a competitive on the field standpoint. Gotta win tomorrow. No excuses.

2013-2015 34 wins in 3 years

VS

2000-2006 35 wins in 7 years

1993-1997 34 wins in 6 years

1988-1993 32 wins in 6 years (the Phoenix seasons)

Heady times indeed.

Still doesn't change that they need to win tomorrow. But it's enough for me to flip from the switch from expect the worst and hope for the best to expect the best and hope to avoid the worst.
