Two recently released New England Patriots players were reportedly claimed on waivers by new teams on Monday.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Pittsburgh Steelers claimed guard Lecitus Smith, and the Tennessee Titans claimed linebacker Curtis Jacobs.

Smith only played on five offensive snaps for the Patriots last season. Most of his work came on special teams for a Patriots team that dealt with offensive line issues throughout the year. Smith never stood out as a player capable of helping them in that plight.

Perhaps he'll have better luck with the Steelers.

The writing was already on the wall for Jacobs with the Patriots making multiple moves at linebacker in free agency. They've added Harold Landry III, Robert Spillane, Jack Gibbens and K'Lavon Chaisson—on top of bringing back restricted free agent Christian Elliss for another season.

Like Smith, Jacobs will have a chance to carve out an opportunity for himself elsewhere outside of New England.
