Now that was a nice draft

Yup, and it's the only one with more than 1 or 2 good players in it.

Rnd Pick Ovrall Name College Pos
1 21 21 Robert Smith Ohio State RB
2 23 52 Qadry Ismail Syracuse WR
3 1 57 John Gerak Penn State G
3 23 79 Gilbert Brown Kansas DT
4 22 106 Ashley Sheppard Clemson LB
5 21 133 Everett Lindsay Mississippi T
7 24 192 Gino Torretta Miami (FL) QB

1993, the last one. Smith was awesome when he was healthy, Ismail was a backup, Lindsay started one year, and.....gino toretta!

And the Guy has still produced winning teams!!!! I choose winning teams!!!!!!!!!!!! If we get that in Arizona, great.....

I agree with you. I was ONLY posting this because I think everyone will need to chill and take his draft with a grain of salt.

Fitzgerald or whoever we take at 3 should be a slam dunk but beyond round 1, green has a very poor history. Assuming he indeed had control over the draft which it is claimed he did.

By the way... think you missed Gilbert Brown in that last draft...

Pretty good DT

Green cut him in training camp.

Qadry Ismail always played good against the Cardinals. I was at the Vikings game in like '95 and he just torched the place

Jolt,

You obviously know your draft stuff, so here is a question for you that I haven't really seen the experts tackle. Where does this draft class rank potentially compared to those of the past 15 years? Or what is the best first round of the draft in the past 15 years or so.

Thanks,

A-Bomb

Pro Bowlers Green drafted (just with the Vikings).

2003: Matt Birk, Moss, Culpepper
2002: Michael Bennet, Randy Moss
2001: Matt Birk
2000: Matt Birk, Culpepper, Moss, Robert Smith, Korey Stringer
1999: Moss
1998: Ed McDaniel, Moss, Robert Smith, Todd Steussie
1997: Todd Steussie

That's 17. But you have Underwood on your side of the ledger, I guess.

Whereas in the same time period the Cards drafted one in Anquan IIRC.

Hey, what we had wasn't working - it sure as hell can't get any WORSE.

No team drafts starters every year. Those 3rd round picks and below are a total crap shoot for any team. You also fail to realize that the Vikings already had alot of talent and were drafting toward the bottom of each round because they were a playoff team every year. I don't really see any point in your argument.Getting Culpepper,Moss,Stringer, and HOvan where he was drafting is pretty good.

That works just as well. Either way, Jolt's getting his ass handed to him.
