(fill in the blank) sucks has got to be the lamest taunt in the history of professional sports. What you REALLY gotta love is being up by 26 and being able to point the scoreboard when obnoxious fans are swearing up a blue streak at you.

I personally hate it when the fans taunt with (fill in the blank) sucks. When they use a team name, like your example of Red Wings.

That's why the fans did not chant Wildcats suck, or even UofA sucks, they chanted Tucson sucks. :D

In 2003, ASU's class was ranked 22, UA's 33. In 2002, ASU's was ranked 18, UA's 25. I'm not that knowlegeable as far as recruiting goes but to say that ASU is light years ahead of UA as far as talent goes is a stretch. ASU is better but not overwhelmingly so. The reason UA got blown out of so many games last year is because the upper classmen lost interest because of Mackovic and the interim staff were forced to play nearly all freshmen and sophmores who were mostly not ready, or apathetic upper classmen. Let's also not forget regardless of the loss against ASU, UA took a step in the right direction this year by firing Mackovic when they did allowing them to make the best college FB hire in the country and avoid a situation like Nebraska's, and by playing the young players to gain experience. ASU, while they did beat UA took a step in the wrong direction not only by not living up to expectations, but especially by retaining their pitiful DC. Someone should tell Koetter that he plays in a BCS conference and the 4-2-5 defense will not work.

2. UofA bandwagon is huge. That and the all of the real UofA fans that went to school there, but left that dumpy dustbowl of a town as soon as they had a diploma in their hands. :D

3. When did we say that? I'm an ASU fan and it's frustrating that Evans does not have us in Tournament shape every year. He's been a big disappointment.

The UofA fans were chanting "Not in our house when the majority of the ASU fans were leaving the arena with about 5 minutes to go.

The game was televised by Fox nationally.

In the last 20 years ASU has only won once in Tucson and that was a double overtime game in 1995 when Damon Stoudamire and Ben Davis sat out. I guess morale victories are what ASU fans can only hope for.

ASU is not even UofA's rival in basketball. UCLA and Stanford are. Lute is 36-6 against the Devils. I doubt he loses any sleep the night before they play the Sun Devils.

They are in-state rivals regardless of where they're ranked or how they're playing. Just like USC/UCLA, Oregon/Oregon St., Wash/Wash St., Illinois/Illinois St., New Mexico/New Mexico St., etc (need I go on?).

Furthermore: Anyone you line up and play against, regardless of location, who is competing against you and trying to defeat you is a rival, by definition.

Historically, UofA (1 title) would be closer to Stanford (1 title) than UCLA (11 titles).

I see it all the time from everyone I know out here from New York. When I lived there, my family couldn't wait to get the hell out.

All the pollution, the ********, the cold weather, the crime...

Just kidding, BTW. I don't really think you are a snob, but New York happens to be filled with them...

Oh Believe me, I aint talking about New York. But those that WANT to leave? Probably dont have the stones to hack it here anyhow.

Either way,Ive lived here for 20 months. I lived in Phoenix for 20 years. and Tucson for 7. AZ is a trasient, third rate, sprawl of a poorly planned state, with crappy ass government, and a fringe population of freaks weirdos and racists. Too bad. Its a gorgeous state.

NYC? Best city on the face of the earth, and worst all in one. But dont go talking about pollution and crime. Phoenix is worse in crime per capita, and that giant brown haze over the entire metro valley???? A product again, of horrible public transportaion and poor sprawl-friendly planning.

Now Denver? Denver is where its at baby. Course I struggle to say that an hour after that lay down in the RCA Dome, but you get my point.

What else can you do? To do anything BUT laugh would force you to actually acknowledge your past and its inherant suckiness.

You couldnt live without me.

Look, used to shill for Tucson over Phoenix all the time, and its because I lived in both and truly and honestly felt that way. I hate Phoenix and its crappy ass single story everything, and parking lots big enough to raise the mean temp 10 degrees, and its residential streets wider than most state highways, and its crappy politics, and its horribly overworked infrastructure brought on by horrible city planning. ANd its transient population of idiot collegians and frat boys and meat market mill avenue types.

And you know what, after years of effort, Tucson has seriously closed the gap on Phoenix's suckiness. I couldnt believe how poorly developed that city has become. Pathetic.

Its why I left.

To acknowledge the past, I would have to actually care. :p

Go Devils!!

Look at attendance in a city filled with ASU alum.

Heck, ASU's football team doesn't get that much support either.

In Tuckson, the city supports their teams, because that's all Tuckson has. :p

I didn't really care last year, to be quite honest.

I like Ike, and think he is a fabulous player, but other than that, I'm not really interested in ASU hoops.

My favorite hoops team, is probably Chapel Hill....I was born a Tar Heel, and will die a Tar Heel....

Make the tickets $10 more for this game and raise an extra $150,000 for a department that is still in the red. Most ASU friends/alum do not really care about basketball anyway and this crowd is always a "home" game for U of A anyways, so make them pay a little extra.

Hardly a novel idea. I have posted essentially the same thing elsewhere.

That said, given the fact that a great number of tickets are purchased by UA fans, friends, etc. I don't know why they wouldn't consider doing it.

That's my point...remember when they did that for the Nebraska, or was it Notre Dame, game in football.

Thanks for making me feel like a complete moron. :p
