Cautiously optimistic about the transfer portal class.

On offense, Fifita staying is obviously huge, and getting the RB Madhi could be a huge get. A couple of WRs with some good college production (Wysong, Hutson, Whatley - and our best high school recruit is a WR). Barmore seems like an intriguing TE from a small school. I feel like the OL is a big question mark, but did get some guys with starting experience from big schools.

On defense, getting 3 of our secondary guys to withdraw from the portal (Stukes, Smith, and Johnson) is probably the biggest win, plus a couple of transfers from bigger schools in Texas, WVU, and Stanford. The defensive front 7 will definitely have question marks, but we picked up a few guys with big stats from smaller schools.

The high-end talent coming in doesn't match what left, but we saw where that got us last year. Plus, a lot of the guys have prior recruiting connections with the coaching staff, so hopefully they will be better scheme fits even if they don't have the same level of top-end talent.

What's the state of UA's NIL? I've seen a lot on ASU's efforts to get it going but not much on UA. As an outsider I'd assume that bball gets the most love with football playing 2nd fiddle. I'm curious though if it's getting built up enough to compete with at least ASU and the even bigger money schools.

The actual numbers are never published. All I know is UofA has decent NIL funds, but it could always be better. Basketball, it's Top-20 in the nation, which kinda sucks because of the history of our program. In football, it's probably just as good if not better than ASU. Humberto Lopez pays a lot of money into football NIL and is the reason that Noah Fifita and T-Mac stayed when Fisch left. He also covered Sumlin's buyout when he was terminated. ASU's NIL is not as great as its fans would like people to think. Someone in the know once told me that ASU has *maybe* 25 or 30% of the funds that a school like Ohio State would have. Plus, the whole Segi TV fiasco really screwed up ASU's projected funds for the foreseeable future.

The thing that irritates me about our NIL situation is that three of our richest alum are sports guys in Robert Sarver, Woody Johnson, and Arte Moreno. Not only do they not contribute a dime to Arizona's NIL, they are generally horrible people.

Thanks for the info, having someone like Lopez was something I wasn't sure of. I agree that ASU's isn't the greatest either. They dragged their feet too much and were late to the dance. Herm didn't really help either. It seems like ASU has gotten their program going a bit better over the last year or so and is going to grow due to last season. Their NIL trajectory seems to be on the rise. I've been seeing a lot of news on them too but not much on UofA which had me wondering.

My hope has always been that both school got their act together in the 3 big sports to make AZ a gauntlet to run through. With the Pac treating schools as pairs for scheduling I always though both school would benefit. Let team A get beat up by ASU and Team B by UofA so that when they play the other school in their next game they were already softened up. That doesn't look like it's happening with the Big12 scheduling but it still wouldn't hurt to have the state be scary.

I'm with you on those three alum too without know about the money. I don't think much of any of those guys.
